MCHS, CCHS advance in softball playoffs

Morgan City and Central Catholic High schools were victorious in first-round softball playoff action this afternoon in their respective classes.
Morgan City, the No. 13 seed in Class 4A, routed No. 20 Assumption, 10-0 in five innings in Morgan City.
Meanwhile, in Class 1A, Central Catholic, the No. 12 seed, knocked off No. 21 Ascension Christian, 8-3, in Bayou Vista.
Both will be on the road in the second round, although details other than their opponents have not been announced yet.
Morgan City (15-6) will travel to face Leesville, the No. 4 seed. Leesville advanced after routing No. 29 Franklin Parish, 14-0, in five innings in first-round action Saturday.
Central Catholic (16-12) will travel to face Class 1A's fifth seed, LaSalle, in the second round. LaSalle run-ruled No. 28 Westminster, 13-1, in five innings today.
