MCHS Lady Tigers end losing skid with rout

It’s been a rough stretch for the Morgan City Lady Tigers for nearly the last two months.
After starting the season 4-1, including the Centerville tournament championship on Dec. 4, the Lady Tigers hit a rough spot, dropping 11 straight games, including the first round of their District 7-4A slate.
On Tuesday, the losing streak came to an end in a big way as Morgan City began the second round of District 7-4A play with a 43-12 victory against Vandebilt Catholic in Morgan City.
While the final margin was lopsided, both teams struggled to make shots in the first half as Morgan City lead just 10-3 at halftime.
No individual stats were available for Morgan City (5-12 overall, 1-5 in district), which will return to action Friday when it travels to face Assumption in a District 7-4A contest set for 6 p.m.
Central Catholic tops
Ascension Episcopal
Central Catholic topped Ascension Episcopal 60-36 in District 7-1A action in Morgan City Monday.
Lydia Rivas led the Lady Eagles with 22 points along with six rebounds, while Hallie Autin also reached double figures with 17 points and added five assists and five steals.
Other scorers included Jalaysia Bertrand, nine; Caitlyn Picou, five; Sydney Williams, four points and seven rebounds; and Taylor Picou, three points.
Central Catholic had six three-pointers.
The Lady Eagles will return to action Friday when it hosts Lafayette Christian, Class 1A’s seventh-ranked team, according to the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings.
Patterson falls to Franklin
Patterson High School fell to Franklin, 40-33, in District 8-3A action in Franklin Tuesday.
No individual stats were available for the Lumberjills today.
Patterson (7-9, 4-4) will return to action Monday when it travels to face Kaplan in District 8-3A action.
Berwick falls to
North Vermilion
The Berwick Lady Panthers dropped a District 8-3A contest to North Vermilion, 54-11 on the road Tuesday.
No individual statistics were available for the Lady Panthers.
Berwick (1-14, 0-8) will return to action Friday when it hosts Franklin.
