MCHS Lady Tigers undefeated during weekend

Morgan City finished 2-0 this weekend at Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche, knocking off Teurlings Friday and Patterson Saturday.
Friday, Morgan City defeated Teurlings, 47-33.
Morgan City jumped out to a 12-3 lead after a quarter and led 21-13 at halftime. Teurlings trailed just 30-26 after three quarters, but Morgan City outscored the Lafayette parochial school, 17-7, in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Laqwaijhia Bourgeois led Morgan City with 11, while Alisha Singleton also reached double figures with 10. Other scorers included Deryon Johnson, nine; Twanna LeBeau, six; Hailey Lewis, four; Nia Lightfoot, three; and Sh’Diamond Holly and Randasha Grogan, two each.
Saturday, Morgan City defeated Patterson, 52-38.
Morgan City led 15-7 after a quarter, 23-16 at halftime and 41-23 after three quarters.
Holly led Morgan City with 17 points, while Singleton added 15. Other scorers included Bourgeois, eight; Lewis, six; and Johnson and Courtney Welsh, two each.
Morgan City (4-2) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face West St. Mary in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
Patterson finishes 0-2 this weekend
Patterson finished 0-2 at Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche this weekend, falling to H.L. Bourgeois in overtime Friday and to Morgan City Saturday.
Friday, H.L. Bourgeois outscored Patterson 8-0 in overtime for a 40-32 victory.
While Patterson took a 12-10 lead after a quarter and led 18-16 at halftime, H.L. Bourgeois countered with an 8-3 advantage in the third quarter for a 24-21 lead after three quarters.
Patterson outscored H.L. Bourgeois, 11-8 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
Erykah Singleton led Patterson with 15 points. Other scorers included Makayla Ruiz, nine; Kiyanna Butler and Nyla Holder, three each; and Kemiah Watson, two.

Berwick drops
two games
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell to Hanson and Centerville, Friday and Saturday, respectively, at Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche.
Friday, Berwick fell to Hanson, 41-17.
Hanson led 9-3 after a quarter, 19-8 at halftime and 30-14 after three quarters.
Jordan Lipari led Berwick with five points. Other scorers included Madison Carline, four; Alira Clark, Tia Whitehead and Nicole Johnson, two each; and Mary Jordan Melancon and Tamera Whitehead, one each.
Saturday, Berwick fell to Centerville, 51-46.
No individual statistics were available.
Berwick (0-5) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts H.L. Bourgeois at 5 p.m.
CCHS falls to H.L. Bourgeois
Central Catholic dropped its lone weekend contest at Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche as it fell to H.L. Bourgeois, 38-17 Saturday.
H.L. Bourgeois led 8-2 after a quarter, 16-7 at halftime and 23-12 after three quarters.
Hallie Autin led Central Catholic with nine points. Other scorers included Yani Johnson, four; and Rebecca David and Sydney Williams, two each.
Central Catholic (5-4) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Berwick in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
