Morgan City Lady Tigers go 2-0 this week

The Morgan City High School Lady Tigers’ bowling team bounced back from a season-opening defeat against Ellender last week with consecutive dominating victories this week against Vandebilt Catholic and Terrebonne.
On Monday, Morgan City defeated Vandebilt Catholic, 24-3 at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City. Vandebilt Catholic was the girls’ state runner-up a year ago.
Hannah Pipes led Morgan City with a 630 series (181, 181, 268), while Meghan Amador recorded a 506 series (156, 189, 161).
Other top bowlers included Marissa Davis (158, 158) and Mackenzie Amador (158).
On Wednesday, Morgan City topped Terrebonne 22.5-4.5 at Creole Lanes in Houma.
Meghan Amador led Morgan City with a 535 series (170, 185, 180), while Pipes recorded a 518 series (190, 157, 171).
Other top bowlers included Davis (182) 437 series, Mackenzie Amador (157, 156) and Ali Tregle (175).
Morgan City (2-1) will return to action next week when it faces Houma Christian Monday at Creole Lanes. On Wednesday, Morgan City will meet Berwick at Charlie’s Lanes. Both matches are set for 3:40 p.m. starts.
Berwick girls drop two matches
The Berwick Lady Panthers dropped their two matches this week, falling to South Terrebonne, 23-4, Monday at Creole Lanes in Houma and on Wednesday to H.L. Bourgeois, 23-4, at Creole Lanes.
In Monday’s match, Micah Lambert led Berwick with a 441 series (167), while Briana Toups had a 436 series (155) and Shannon Derise (156).
On Wednesday against H.L. Bourgeois, Toups recorded a 370 series to lead Berwick, while Lambert had a 366 series.
Berwick (0-3) will return to action next week when it faces E.D. White Monday at Creole Lanes in Houma, while on Wednesday, the Lady Panthers will meet Morgan City at Charlie’s Lanes. Both matches are set for 3:40 p.m. starts.
Berwick drops nail biter
The Berwick boys’ bowling team dropped a nail biter to South Terrebonne, 14-13, Monday at Creole Lanes in Houma.
While Berwick took game 1, 6-2, South Terrebonne came back with a 6-2 victory in game 2 that tied the match at 8-all heading into the final game.
South Terrebonne took the final game 6-2, earning four individual wins and two more points for winning total pins in the game.
However, for the match, Berwick actually knocked down more pins (2,942-2,914) to close its gap to 14-13.
Mark Lemoine led Berwick with a 591 series (195, 193, 203), while Aaron Barrilleaux recorded a 520 series (212, 170).
Other top bowlers included Brandon Lemoine (196), Lucas Landry (194) and Abram Gilder (177).
Berwick (0-2) will return to action Monday when it faces E.D. White at Creole Lanes, while on Wednesday, it will meet Morgan City at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City. Both matches are set for 3:40 p.m. starts.
Morgan City boys fall to Vandebilt Catholic
Morgan City lost its lone match of the week Monday at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City to Vandebilt Catholic, 23-4.
Zachary Stewart led Morgan City with a 537 series (191, 202)
Other top bowlers included Jayson Hidalgo (224, 189), Aaron Nguyen (194, 161), Jason Myers (190), Zachary Gussman (182), Hau Vo (165) and Trevor Tong (160).
Morgan City (1-1) will return to action next week when it faces Houma Christian Monday at Creole Lanes in Houma and on Wednesday against Berwick at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City. Both matches are set for 3:40 p.m. starts.
Central Catholic falls to Thibodaux
Central Catholic fell to Thibodaux, 16-11, in bowling action at Charlie’s Lanes Monday.
Josh Abney led the squad with a 602 series (182, 237, 183), while Emily Price recorded a 482 series (154, 171 and 157).
Central Catholic (0-2) will return to action next week when it faces E.D. White Wednesday at Creole Lanes in Houma in a 3:40 p.m. contest.
