Morgan City sweeps Franklin in volleyball action

The Morgan City Lady Tigers swept Franklin Monday on Senior Night, 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-7) in Morgan City.
Morgan City had 19 aces in the District 8-III contest.
Abby Reynaud and Sh’diamond Holly led Morgan City. Reynaud had three kills, 17 assists and four aces, while Holly had nine kills. Other top contributors included Paige Loftin, seven kills and two aces; Karmen Peterson, three kills, one assist and two solo blocks; Emily Boudreaux, four aces; Faith Crappell and Mckenzi Smith, one kill and two aces each; and Katelyn Gautreaux and Hannah Gros, two aces each.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-6, 25-7).
Morgan City had 22 aces.
Smith led Morgan City with three assists and six aces. Other top contributors included Jamia Francois, six aces; Hallie Blanchard, three kills and two aces; Peterson, four aces and one dig; and Daysha Tivet, three aces.
In freshman action, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-13, 25-20).
Morgan City had 12 aces.
Deryon Johnson led Morgan City with three kills and seven aces. Other top contributors included Francois, three kills, three aces, one dig and one solo block; and Sarajane Nini, two kills, five assists and one ace.
On Friday, Morgan City fell at Sam Houston, 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-22).
Morgan City had five solo blocks.
Reynaud led Morgan City with four kills, 13 assists and one dig. Other top contributors included Holly, six kills and three solo blocks; Gautreaux, eight digs; Twanna LeBeau, six kills and one dig; Smith, one kill and six digs; Peterson, four kills and one solo block; Boudreaux, one ace and one dig; and Nia Lightfoot, one dig and one solo block.
On Saturday, Morgan City fell to St. Louis 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 17-25, 19-25)
Morgan City had 37 kills and seven solo blocks.
Reynaud and Holly led Morgan City. Reynaud had one kill, 18 assists, one ace and two digs; while Holly totaled 12 kills, one dig and five solo blocks. Other top contributors included Jolene Nini, one kill, 13 assists and one dig; Peterson, 10 kills and two solo blocks; Smith, six kills, one ace and four digs; Gautreaux, one ace and five digs; and Blanchard, one ace and three digs.
Morgan City (9-22 overall, 4-3 in district) will return to action Wednesday when it hosts E.D. White in District 8-III action.
Patterson falls to
Catholic High
The Patterson Lumberjills fell 3-2 (25-22, 18-25, 25-27, 29-27, 6-15) to Catholic High-New Iberia Thursday in District 2-IV volleyball action at Patterson.
Patterson had 35 kills.
Morgan Jones led Patterson with two aces, 16 kills, 11 digs and two blocks. Other top contributors included Katelyn Larson, one kill, 12 digs and five assists; Ashlynn Rock, 11 kills, four digs, one block and one assist; Gabby Marcel, six kills and 11 digs; Kara Lawrence, one ace and 16 digs; and Tapanga Haven, three digs and six assists.
Patterson (6-16, 3-4) will conclude district play Tuesday when it travels to face David Thibodaux.
