Patterson sweeps Franklin in volleyball action

Patterson defeated Franklin Wednesday 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-18) at Franklin Wednesday.
Patterson had 19 aces in the nondistrict contest.
Morgan Jones and Gabby Marcel led Patterson. Jones had two aces, eight kills, two digs and one assist, while Marcel recorded four aces, eight kills and one dig. Other top contributors included Madison Paul, six aces and three kills; Katelyn Larson, eight assists; Tapanga Haven, three aces, one dig and three assists; and Brianna Gray, one ace, one kill and two digs.
Patterson (7-17) now will await to see if it qualified for the Division IV postseason. Brackets will be announced Sunday.
Morgan City falls
to Thibodaux
The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell to Thibodaux, 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-20) on the road Thursday.
Sh’diamond Holly and Abby Reynaud led Morgan City. Holly had eight kills, one dig, two solo block and two block assists, while Reynaud had 15 assists and three digs. Other top contributors included Mckenzi Smith, one kill, seven digs and one block assist; Katelyn Gautreaux, one ace and five digs; and Karmen Peterson, two kills and one block assist.
On Wednesday, Morgan City fell to E.D. White in Morgan City 3-1 (20-25, 21-25, 25-21, 10-25).
Morgan City had 39 kills, six solo block and seven block assists.
Reynaud and Holly led Morgan City. Reynaud had four kills, 29 assists, one ace, one dig and one block assist, while Holly recorded 17 kills, six solo blocks and five block assists. Other top contributors included Gautreaux, 17 digs; Paige Loftin, seven kills and one dig; Emily Boudreaux, eight digs; Peterson, seven kills; and Brandi Albarado and Hannah Gros, one ace and one dig apiece.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-21, 25-8).
Morgan City had four solo blocks and four block assists.
Smith and Jamia Francis led Morgan City. Smith had one kill, seven assists, one dig and one block assist, while Francis recorded five kills, two aces and one solo block. Other top contributors included Daysha Tivet, seven digs; Peterson, one kill, one dig, one solo block and three block assists; and Deryon Johnson, two solo blocks.
In freshman action, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-23, 25-19).
Morgan City had nine aces, four solo blocks and one block assist.
Johnson and Francis led Morgan City. Johnson had two kills, four aces, three digs, two solo blocks and one block assist, while Francis recorded five kills, two aces, one dig and two solo blocks. Sarajane Nini also contributed one kill and five assists for Morgan City.
The Lady Tigers (11-22 overall) will return to action Saturday when it competes in Episcopal of Baton Rouge’s tournament.
Berwick falls
at Spooktacular
The Berwick Lady Panthers dropped three games at Thursday’s portion of Episcopal School of Acadiana’s Spooktacular tournament.
Berwick fell to St. Thomas More, 2-0 (25-9, 25-18), Ascension Episcopal, 2-0 (25-10, 25-18) and Lafayette Christian, 2-0 (25-16, 25-18).
No individual statistics were available from the matches.
On Monday, Berwick fell at E.D. White Monday 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-19) in its District 8-III finale.
Mary Jordan Melancon and Brittney Roberie led Berwick. Melancon had four kills, 10 assists, one ace and five digs, while Roberie had 29 digs. Other top contributors included Lauren Skinner, nine kills and four digs; Abbie Dugas, six digs, one ace and nine digs; Roslyn Gros, three aces and eight digs; Sydney Aucoin, four kills, two digs and two solo blocks; Jordan Lipari, one assist, one ace and five digs; Emma Hover, six digs; and Morgan Toups, two kills, one dig and one solo block
