Prep hoops power rankings updated

The Morgan City boys basketball team made the biggest jump among area teams in the latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings released Tuesday morning.
The Tigers are ranked No. 28 in Class 4A, up five spots from a week ago.
All other area boys’ teams fell in the rankings, with Central Catholic suffering the biggest fall, dropping four spots to No. 22 in this week’s Class 1A rankings.
Meanwhile, both Patterson and Berwick fell two spots in the latest Class 3A rankings to Nos. 14 and 40, respectively.
The only change among the top teams in classes 4A, 3A and 1A occurred in Class 4A where Leesville has replaced Edna Karr in the top spot. University Lab and Madison Prep continue to lead classes 3A and 1A, respectively.
In the girls’ rankings, Central Catholic was the only team to gain any ground from a week ago as the Lady Eagles moved up a spot to No. 41.
Patterson had the biggest drop, falling five spots to No. 29, while Morgan City slipped a spot to No. 30.
Berwick remained at the bottom of Class 3A, ranked No. 64.
The only change from a week ago among the No. 1 teams in classes 1A, 3A and 4A occurred in Class 4A where Salmen replaced Warren Easton. University Lab and North Central each remained No. 1 in classes 3A and 1A.
