Tigers defeat Kaplan, 42-25

The Morgan City High School Tigers defeated Kaplan, 42-25, in nondistrict action Tuesday.
Morgan City outscored Kaplan in three out of the four quarters, taking a 12-4 lead after the first quarter, a 30-13 advantage into intermission and a 38-17 lead after three quarters.
Kaplan outscored Morgan City 8-4 in the final period.
Tywaun Walker led Morgan City with 15 points.
Other scorers included Keshawn Marshall with eight; Makye Richard, six; Taaj Daniels, five; Clifton Escort, five; Abram Hartley, two; and Dustin Harris, one.
Morgan City (9-5) will return to action Friday when it hosts Patterson. Junior varsity boys’ action will begin at 5:30 p.m., and following a Morgan City girls’ varsity contest against Vandebilt Catholic. Both boys’ teams will meet at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Patterson falls to Ellender
The Patterson Lumberjacks fell at home to Ellender, 67-57.
Patterson had three scorers reach double figures, including Mykel Jones with 15 points; Taylan Grogan, 14; and Nehemiah Augustus, 11.
Other scorers for Patterson included D.J. Jones, eight; Malik Garrett, seven; and Kenneth Washington, two.
Patterson (6-4) will return to action Friday when it plays at Morgan City.
Central Catholic routs Highland Baptist
Central Catholic opened District 7-1A play Tuesday in Morgan City with a 72-38 victory against Highland Baptist.
The Eagles outscored the Bears in every quarter, taking a 13-6 lead after the first period, a 35-17 lead at the half and a 49-21 advantage after three quarters.
Jalen Johnson led Central Catholic with 29 points, while Charlie Solar had 15 and Samarick Paul, 13.
In junior varsity action, Central Catholic won 51-36.
Elijah Swan led the Eagles with 22 points, while Demarcus Mitchell had 15.
Central Catholic (4-8 overall, 1-0 in district) will continue District 7-1A action Friday when it travels to face Vermilion Catholic.
West St. Mary tops Berwick
The Berwick Panthers fell at home Tuesday to West St. Mary, 49-45, in nondistrict action.
Kenan Jones led Berwick with 21 points, while Audwin Williams added 16.
Berwick (7-6) will return to action Friday when it travels to face North Vermilion in a 7 p.m. nondistrict contest.
