Trio of Lady Tigers earn all-state honors

The Morgan City Lady Tigers softball team capped an impressive season with three honorable mention selections on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State team.
Tyler Hebert, Brandi Ingram and Celest Williams were named to the team.
The trio are seniors and two of the three are headed to play Division 1 softball in the Southwestern Athletic Conference as Ingram will play at Grambling and Williams, Southern University.
Morgan City finished its season with a 16-11 mark but was upset by No. 22 Bastrop in the second round of the playoffs, 7-2.
Morgan City head coach Tamara Keller could not be reached for comment Monday or today, and no stats were available for the three players.
Other District 7-4A representatives on the team included first-team selections Kristyn Torres of Assumption, infielder Amanda Gianelloni of Assumption, and utility selection Nora Keehn of Vandebilt Catholic.
Assumption’s Kirk Delatte was named Coach of the Year.
District 7-4A honorable mention selections included Ellender’s Annie Robinson, Alyssa Bush and Morgan Pitre; Vandebilt Catholic’s Lauren Poche, MacKenzie Rousseau, Logan Deroche and Cassie Boquet; Assumption’s Sunnie Rae Blanchard, Claire Landry and Kassie Leonard; and South Terrebonne’s Kelsie Authement.
