Walker's last-second shot lifts MCHS

Staff Report

Tywuan Walker’s last-second bucket off a turnover helped Morgan City stave off an upset from South Terrebonne in District 7-4A action Friday.
While Walker had just missed two free throws with about 4 seconds remaining that would have given the Tigers the lead, a South Terrebonne defender got the rebound but his pass attempt went off a teammate’s fingertips and Walker got the ball back and dribbled before pulling up in front of a South Terrebonne defender for the game-winning bucket.
Walker finished the game with 17 points.
Morgan City, who had earlier in the week upset Ellender, was in danger of falling to South Terrebonne, who was ranked near the bottom of the Class 4A power rankings.
While Morgan City and South Terrebonne entered the half tied at 29, South Terrebonne outscored Morgan City in the third quarter, 20-9 to take a 49-38 lead heading into the fourth.
However, Morgan City came back with a 21-8 scoring advantage for the victory.
