La. Tech alumni to host New Orleans Bowl events

RUSTON — The Louisiana Tech Alumni Association is set to turn New Orleans into Bulldog Country when the Bulldogs head to the Big Easy to take on Arkansas State at 8 p.m. Dec. 19 in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, according to a La. Tech news release.
The Alumni Association has a variety of activities planned surrounding the game, including a luncheon, Dec. 18 concert, a tour of the National WWII Museum and an alumni tailgate leading up to kickoff.
La. Tech’s alumni hotel is the Hilton New Orleans Riverside on Poydras Street and will offer a special rate for Bulldog fans. The group code is Louisiana Tech Alumni and fans can call 504-584-3959 for reservations. The deadline for the group rate is Monday.
Beginning Dec. 18, the Bulldog faithful can join alumni and fans at the New Orleans Bowl Luncheon at noon at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel. Tickets for the luncheon are $45 and can be purchased online at NewOrleansBowl.org/ luncheon-2015/.
Fans can also take advantage of a free Dec. 18 bowl concert in Champions Square beginning at 7 p.m. with performances by REO Speedwagon and Big Sam’s Funky Nation. Following the concert, the Alumni Association will host Alumni Night Out beginning at 10 p.m. at Walk-Ons on Poydras Street.
On game day, La. Tech fans can join alumni at the National WWII Museum and take advantage of a $24 discounted group rate if they register with the Alumni Association by Monday.
An alumni tailgate will also be held inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome Dec. 19 beginning at 4:30 p.m. and lasting until 7 p.m. The tailgate will be held in the Claiborne Club Lounge in the Superdome and includes popcorn, nachos, hamburgers, a cash bar and a pregame pep rally with the Band of Pride. Cost of entry to the tailgate is $15 if registered before Dec. 14 and $20 after the deadline. Children five and under are $5 and the cost for game day walk-ups is $25. Fans attending the alumni tailgate will be required to present game tickets upon entry.
