Berwick Junior High sweeps its Panther Relays

Berwick Junior High School swept the Berwick Junior High Panther Relays last week.
The boys’ squad scored 160 points, while the girls’ team had 176 points.
On the girls’ side, Berwick Junior High swept the Field MVP and Track MVP honors as Katheryn Wilkinson and Lauren Cantrelle, respectively, took home these awards.
Wilkinson placed first in the shot put with a heave of 32 feet, 9 inches, while she also was tops in the discus with a toss of 73 feet, 10 inches.
Cantrelle took top honors in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs. Cantrell clocked in at 2:50.89 in the 800, 6:32.08 in the 1,600 and 16:27.41 in the 3,200.
In the field, she won first place in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 6 inches.
On the boys’ side, Patterson Junior High’s Irvin Celestin took the Field MVP honors, while Berwick Junior High’s Kyle Valdez earned the Track MVP award.
Celestin finished second in the high jump with a leap of 4-feet, 8-inches, while he also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet.
On the track, Valdez took first place in the 3,200 meter run and the 1,600 meter run and second in the 800 meter run.
He finished the 3,200 meter run in 13:03.78, completed the 1,600 meter run in 5:42.12 and clocked in at 2:42.23 in the 800 meter run.
