The Franklin 10U All-Stars won the Louisiana Dixie Youth Minors South Minors title
via a walk-off hit in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 7-6 victory against Mamou in
a winner-take-all contest at Cypress Park in Morgan City Tuesday. Mamou had
forced a second game after defeating Franklin, 5-1, in the first game of the afternoon.

Franklin will return to action Friday in Alexandria when it faces West Carroll in a
best two-out-of-three series for the state title and the right to advance to the Dixie

Franklin rallies to win Louisiana Dixie Youth Minors South Regional title; West Carroll takes North

Franklin rallied to win the Louisiana Dixie Youth Minors South Regional, while West Carroll blasted Ruston for the North Regional title.
Franklin, after dropping its first game of the tournament earlier in the afternoon to Mamou, rallied with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning for the walk-off 7-6 victory against Mamou in a winner-take-all game at Cypress Park.
Meanwhile, at Complex Park, West Carroll overcame an early deficit and cruised to the North Regional title.
Franklin and West Carroll will meet, beginning Friday, in Alexandria for a best two-out-of-three state finals series. The series winner will advance to the Dixie Youth World Series, which will be played Aug. 5-11 in Laurel, Mississippi.
In Franklin’s final at bat, Carter Faucheux connected on the game-winning hit on a double in the bottom of the sixth inning to score Gabe Hebert for the 7-6 walk-off victory.
Ethan Judice earned the win in relief. In three innings, he surrendered no runs on one hit with no walks and seven strikeouts.
Offensively, Faucheux led Franklin with a 1-for-1 performance with a double and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Judice, 1-for-3 with a double; Daniel Ibert, 1-for-2, two runs; Reid Lovell and Hebert, each 1-for-3 with a run; Alonzo Alexander, 1-for-3; and Landon Waldon, a run.
Waldon started the game for Franklin. In four innings, he surrendered six runs on four hits with five walks and two strikeouts.
Brady Fontenot led Mamou with a 1-for-1 performance with a triple and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Alex Dick, 1-for-3, a double; Gavin Jack and Christian Andreport, each 1-for-1 with a run; Gavin LaFleur, 1-for-3; and Caliou Thibodaux, Briggs Ardoin and Payton Berzas, each a run.
Dick, the third of three pitchers used by Mamou, suffered the loss. In 0.1 innings, he surrendered one run on two hits.
In game 1, Mamou never trailed, taking a 3-0 lead after an inning.
Big hits in the inning included a double by Ardoin and a triple by A.J. Arvie. LaFleur, Ardoin and Dick scored a run.
Franklin cut its deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth when Lovell, who singled to lead off the inning, later scored. Also in the inning, Alexander doubled.
Mamou countered with two runs in the top of the fifth for the final margin.
In the fifth inning, LaFleur had a single and scored a run, while Ardoin walked and scored.
Ardoin earned the complete-game victory. In six innings, he surrendered one run on five hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.
Dylan Inzima suffered the loss.
In the North Regional title game, West Carroll surrendered two runs to Ruston in the bottom of the first, but clamped down after that, scoring 10 unanswered runs for the victory.
West Carroll scored a run in the second, two runs apiece in the third and fourth innings and five in the fifth inning.
West Carroll advanced to the finals after eliminating Ville Platte, 7-0, in the semifinals at Complex Park Tuesday.
While West Carroll led just 1-0 through the first six innings, it broke the game open with six runs in the top of the seventh.
J.T. Layton earned the complete-game victory as he surrendered no runs and fanned three.
Offensively, Brodie Stuart led West Carroll with a 2-for-4 performance with a double, a triple and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Jackson Bradley, 1-for-2 with a run; Layton, 1-for-3, a double and a run; and James Harris, 1-for-3.
Hayden Droddy suffered the loss. In five innings, he surrendered one run and fanned seven.
Boyce Schexnider led Ville Platte with a 1-for-1 performance with a single.
