Jersey auction raises $101K for South Carolina flood victims

A package of football items that included the signed jersey of LSU running back Leonard Fournette has raised more than $100,000 for flood victims in South Carolina.
The LSU athletic department said Monday the winning bid was $101,000. Along with the jersey Fournette wore in the Oct. 10 victory over South Carolina, the package included signed helmets by both coaches in the game, LSU’s Les Miles and South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier.
Spurrier resigned two days later.
The Tigers’ 45-24 win was moved from Columbia to Baton Rouge, Louisiana because of flooding that struck South Carolina and led to 19 deaths and untold damage to state structures and roadways.
Fournette says he wanted to do what he could to help. The NCAA signed off on the charity auction.
