The St. Mary Central 10U All-Stars were the last Tri-City area team to be eliminated from Minors Regional action as the squad fell 5-2 to Mamou in an elimination game. Mamou now will face Franklin in the South Regional championship round. Because Franklin is undefeated and Mamou has one loss in the tournament, Mamou will have to defeat Franklin twice to win the tournament championship. Louisiana Dixie Youth Minors Regionals: St. Mary Central is eliminated; Franklin advances to championship round

The last Tri-City area Minors (10U) team was eliminated Monday from Louisiana Dixie Youth South Regional play in Morgan City, but St. Mary Parish does have a representative in the 10U South Regionals title game.
While St. Mary Central was eliminated with a 5-2 loss to Mamou Monday at Cypress Park, Franklin remained perfect in tournament action and advanced to the finals after eliminating East Ouachita, 12-5, in Monday’s other South Regional contest.
Mamou and Franklin will play today at 5:30 p.m. Because Franklin is undefeated, Mamou will have to defeat them twice to win the South Regional tournament title.
Franklin is 4-0 in tournament action and has outscored opponents 33-10 in the tournament.
Mamou is 3-1 in the tournament and has outscored opponents 29-14.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams in the tournament. Mamou’s lone loss was an 11-9 defeat by Jackson Parish in both teams’ tournament opener.
In North Regional action, three teams are still vying for the tournament championship.
Ville Platte came into Monday’s action undefeated, but West Carrol handed it its first loss.
That game, coupled with Ruston’s 9-8 victory against Minden in an elimination game, left three teams in the tournament with one loss apiece.
To settle the matter, the teams drew for a bye, which Ruston won and advanced to today’s 7:30 p.m. championship game. It will face the winner of the elimination game between Ville Platte and West Carrol.
Through Sunday’s action (not all scores were available from Monday’s games), Ville Platte has outscored opponents 26-8.
Ville Platte is 3-1 in the tournament.
Meanwhile, West Carrol has outscored opponents 24-14 through Sunday’s games.
West Carrol is 3-1 in tournament action and avenged an earlier tournament loss to Ville Platte in both teams’ tournament opener with Monday’s victory.
Ruston, the third-place team from District 4, is 3-1 and has outscored its opponents 26-12 through Monday’s action. Ruston has not faced either Ville Platte or West Carrol in this tournament.
Morgan City 10U
All-Stars finish 1-2
The Morgan City 10U All-Stars finished the weekend 1-2, falling in their final two games after winning their opener.
While Morgan City opened the tournament with a 7-6 victory against Loranger Friday, the local squad fell 6-4 to Ville Platte Saturday.
On Sunday, Ruston eliminated the squad, 12-2.
In Friday’s game against Loranger, the visitors led 2-1 after the first inning and 6-3 after two innings.
However, Morgan City clawed its way back into the contest with two runs in the bottom of the third and another in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 6. The host team scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth for a 7-6 final.
Kyle Stansbury earned the win in relief. In three innings, he surrendered no runs on two hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
Payton Pickens started for Morgan City, and in 1.1 innings, he surrendered five runs — four earned — on two hits with five walks and two strikeouts.
In 1.2 innings of relief, Benjamin Case surrendered one unearned run on two hits with three walks and one strikeout.
Offensively, Brandon Cordero led Morgan City with a 2-for-3 performance with a double, two RBIs and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Gavyn Ramagos, 1-for-3, an RBI; Maddox Pellerin, 1-for-2, a run; Pickens and Mason Johnston, each an RBI; Howard Kinchen, a stolen base and an RBI; Case and Ethan Wiggins, each two runs; and Stansbury, a run
In Morgan City’s second game, Ville Platte took a 3-0 lead after an inning, but Morgan City responded in the top of the second for a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the second.
However, Ville Platte countered with two runs in the bottom of the second and one in the bottom of the third for a 6-4 lead.
Morgan City outhit Ville Platte, 8-4.
Gregory Hamer suffered the loss. In 1.2 innings, he surrendered five runs — one earned — on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
In relief, Case pitched 3.1 innings and surrendered one earned run on one hit with four strikeouts.
Offensively, Landon Gagliano led Morgan City with a 2-for-3 performance. Other top offensive contributors included Kinchen, 1-for-2, a double, an RBI, a run; Wiggins, 1-for-2, two RBIs, a run; Stansbury, 1-for-2; Pickens, 1-for-3, a stolen base; Cordero, 1-for-3, a run; Pellerin, 1-for-3; and Ramagos, a run.
On Sunday, Ruston broke open a 2-all game with six runs in the fourth and added four in the fifth.
Morgan City could not score in the bottom of the fifth, ending the game via run-rule.
Ruston outhit Morgan City, 11-6, while Morgan City committed seven errors.
Kinchen suffered the loss. In 3.1 innings, he surrendered eight runs — three earned — on nine hits with one walk, one hit batter and two strikeouts.
Pickens pitched 1.2 innings of relief and surrendered four runs — one earned — on two hits with two walks and one hit batter.
Offensively, Pellerin led Morgan City with a 2-for-2 performance with a stolen base. Other top offensive contributors included Cordero, Case and Hamer, all 1-for-2; Gagliano, 1-for-3, a run; and Kinchen, an RBI, a stolen base and a run.
Patterson 10U All-Stars finish 0-2 at regional
The Patterson 10U All-Stars finished 0-2 in Louisiana Dixie Youth North Regional action this weekend, falling to Minden, 11-1, Friday and Ruston, 3-0, Saturday.
In Friday’s contest, Patterson took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
However, Minden responded with two runs in the bottom of the second, four in the third and five in the fourth to end the game via mercy rule.
Minden outhit Patterson, 14-6.
Drew Dinger suffered the loss for Patterson. In 2.2 innings, he surrendered six runs — all earned — on 10 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Offensively, Dinger led Patterson with a 1-for-2 performance with a double and an RBI. Other top offensive contributors included Khylin Brooks, 1-for-1 with a stolen base; Brylon Jennings and Holden LeBlanc, each 1-for-1; Austin Perkins, 1-for-2, a run; and Dylan Verrett, 1-for-2.
In Saturday’s game, Patterson surrendered a run apiece to Ruston in the first three innings.
Ruston outhit Patterson, 8-4, and Patterson committed five errors.
Dinger suffered the loss. In five innings, he surrendered three unearned runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts.
Offensively, Dinger and Brooks led Patterson with 1-for-2 performances. Other top offensive contributors included Brylon Jennings and Dylan Richard, each 1-for-3; and Perkins, a stolen base.
