The Morgan City 11-year-old All-Stars finished 0-3 at the Louisiana Dixie Youth Majors State Tournament this weekend at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Morgan City fell Friday night to West Monroe South, 20-0, and lost both games Saturday, to Alexandria, 9-6, and Union Parish, 15-2.
Against West Monroe, Morgan City was held hitless.
Mekhi Branton suffered the loss as he tossed one inning. Other pitchers used included Ethan Blanchard, who pitched one inning, and Caleb Menina, who tossed two innings.
On Saturday against Alexandria All-Stars, TyJae Vaughns suffered the loss in relief. He pitched two innings. Menina also pitched three innings, while Blanchard tossed one inning.
Offensively, Spencer Hebert led the team with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBIs, while Vaughns was 1-for-2 with a run and Menina, 1-for-2. Branton, Tyson Nguyen and Bryan Gonzales each had an RBI in the loss.
Against Union Parish, Morgan City pounded out nine hits but could only muster two runs.
Jeanluc Barkley led the squad with a 2-for-2 performance with a run, while Drake LaCoste and Nguyen each were 1-for-1 with an RBI.
Other top offensive contributors included Robbie Boudreaux, 1-for-1, a run; Menina, Tate Matherne and Branton, each 1-for-2; and Vaughns, 1-for-3.
Branton suffered the loss, tossing two innings. Other Morgan City pitchers used included Blanchard, one inning; Vaughns, one inning; and Menina, two innings.
Morgan City assistant coach Jamie Holt said he would like to thank the parents for their support and the Morgan City Recreation Department for sponsoring the all-star team and enabling them to participate at district and state levels.
