MC, Franklin claim tourney wins again

Morgan City and Franklin claimed victories in the second night of action in the 2016 District 3 AA 8-year-old Pitching Machine Tournament Thursday at Caffery Park.
Morgan City improved to 2-0 with a victory over Patterson in Thursday’s opener before Franklin upped its record to 2-0 with a win over Thibodaux.
Play in the round-robin format continues tonight with St. Mary Central (0-1) taking on Thibodaux (0-2) in the first game followed by Patterson (0-1) battling Franklin (2-0) playing in the nightcap.
Four games will be played on Saturday with St. Mary Central and Morgan City squaring off at 10 a.m. before Thibodaux and Patterson battle at 11:30 a.m. At 1 p.m., Franklin will play Morgan City before the final game pits St. Mary Central against Patterson at 2:30 p.m.
The top two finishers from the District 3 AA Tournament will advance to the State Tournament which will be held in West Monroe July 7 through 9.
