This summer, a group of St. Mary Parish 4-H’ers took time to adventure themselves into campus life and attended 4-H University.
On June 1, more than 80 St. Mary Parish 4-H members (fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders) from clubs throughout the parish got on the buses and left for an adventure at 4-H summer camp.
More than basketball skills was taught during the annual Jimmy Johnson Free Basketball Clinic held Saturday at Morgan City High School. Thanks to the sponsorship of 100 Black Men of St. Mary Parish, participants also had mentoring sessions and were given personal hygiene kits. The clinic also provides school supplies. Helping the youth with basketball skills were volunteers with high school- and collegiate-basketball skills. Johnson, wearing cap, was also on hand to offer words of wisdom.
