Bones on Red River sandbar are human

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Caddo Parish Coroner Dr. Todd Thoma says bones found on a sandbar in Red River are human.
Thoma tells The Times (http://bit.ly/1m01457 ) an "intact female adult skeleton," including a skull, have been located, but it's too early to provide further information.
Authorities and representatives from the LSU FACES lab in Baton Rouge returned to the sandbar Thursday after the sheriff's deputies found several bones earlier this week. The skull was discovered Thursday.
Thoma says the skeletal remains will be transported to Baton Rouge for further examination by the FACES team.
Sheriff Steve Prator said his office was first alerted over the weekend that a suspicious bone was found on the sandbar north of Shreveport.
