Metairie man claims $1 million Powerball prize

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Louisiana Lottery Corp. says a Metairie man has claimed a $1 million prize from the Aug. 20 multistate Powerball drawing.
Fifty-four-year-old Gerardo Solis claimed the prize Monday morning.
His ticket matched all five white-ball numbers but missed the red Powerball number. He received $700,000 after federal and state taxes were withheld.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Brother's Food Mart in Metairie. The store will receive a one-time selling bonus of $10,000, which is 1 percent of the prize.
