Registration for Tour du Teche V to open
Registration for Tour du Teche V and its sub-races opens Monday and closes at 5 p.m. Sept. 12.
The races for kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and pirogues begin Oct. 3 at Port Barre.
Tour du Teche veterans, including coureurs des bois (bank runners), may register early. Those who do so by 5 p.m. May 17 will receive a 20 percent discount on registration fees.
Registration fees include one coureur des bois (person) per boat. Meals are not included in the registration fee.
The races are:
—Tour du Teche – Port Barre to Berwick, 135 miles over three days; $125 per paddler in Racing, $80 per paddler in Voyageur.
—Crawfish – Port Barre to Breaux Bridge, 34 miles Friday; $60 per paddler (Voyageur only).
—Acadian – Port Barre to St. Martinville, 49 miles Friday; $60 per paddler (Voyageur only).
—Hot Sauce – St. Martinville to New Iberia, 24 miles Saturday; $60 per paddler (Voyageur only).
—Sugar – St. Martinville to Franklin, 59 miles Saturday; $60 per paddler (Voyageur only).
—Oil & Gas – Franklin to Berwick, 27 miles Sunday; $60 per paddler (Voyageur only).
