Theriot gets probation, fine for lying to FBI

BATON ROUGE (AP) — A federal judge has put former Sorrento Police Chief Earl Theriot Jr. on probation for two years for lying to the FBI about his admitted “inappropriate sexual contact” with an intoxicated Ascension Parish woman.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brian Jackson on Thursday also fined the 66-year-old Theriot $2,500.
Theriot resigned in February before pleading guilty in federal court that month.
He admitted at that time to coming in contact with the non-responsive woman at a Sorrento gas station, putting her in the front seat of his police car, and taking her to his office where he engaged in what he called inappropriate sexual contact with her.
