Unrestrained woman dies in crash

A two-vehicle crash on La. 10 at La. 182 has claimed the life of an Opelousas woman, Louisiana State Police report.
According to investigating Troopers on March 21, 2014, at 8:34 p.m., 27 year old
Brandi Chambers, 27, of Opelousas, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala west on La. 10 and at about 8:30 p.m. Friday,  for reasons still under investigation, Chambers turned left in front of a 2012 Dodge truck driven by 28 -year-old Brandon Fisher of Morrow, police report.
The front of Fisher’s vehicle struck the right side of Chambers’ vehicle, police said. 
Chambers was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.  She was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish coroner. 
Fisher was restrained and sustained minor injuries.  He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in this crash and routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
