The Atchafalaya Golf Associated conducted its first event of the year, the Super Bowl Shamble, Sunday at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild. The tournament format was was a net better ball shamble with the team handicap subtracted from the final score. The Atchafalaya Golf Association conducted itsr season-ending Ryder Cup Matches on Sept. 18. Players earned points by competing in events all year to qualify. Twenty-four player (12 per team) competed. Twenty-two of the players were chocen by point totales, while the remaining two were selected by team captains. Captains were the top two point earners. Gary Stansbury's team defeated Gippy LaCoste's team 29-25. The AGA event is modeled after the Ryder Cup Matches played every two years between the United States and Europe. Winners of the Atchafalaya Golf Association Member-Guest Tournament held Saturday at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild near Patterson included the team of Nolan Dumas and Bryan Myers, who took first place with a total of 139. Their win was decided after a playoff round with the team of David Schexnayder and Willie Edwards, who also had a 139 total. Dumas and Myers are congratulated by AGA Vice President David Burch, center.
