CCHS falls to Central Lafourche in five games

Central Catholic fell 3-2 to Central Lafourche Tuesday in volleyball action in Morgan City.
Just three days after falling in three sets — the maximum played — in tournament play in all three games Saturday at Assumption, the Lady Eagles nearly rallied for a win against Central Lafourche Tuesday.
After falling 25-15, 25-18 in the first two sets, Central Catholic countered with a 28-26 win in game three and a 25-14 win in game four.
However, the Lady Eagles dropped the final game of the match, 15-12.
Quincee Wiggins led Central Catholic with 12 kills and 15 digs, while Katie Hoffpauir added four aces and 20 assists.
Other top contributors included Hallie Autin, five kills and two blocks; Brooke Lipari, five kills; and Emma Aucoin, 13 digs.
Central Catholic (2-5) will return to action today when it hosts Lutcher. Junior varsity action is set for a 4:30 p.m. start with varsity to follow.
Morgan City defeats Thibodaux
Morgan City High School bounced back from a loss to Thibodaux Saturday with a 3-1 win against the Lady Tigers on the road Tuesday.
After dropping the first set 25-18, Morgan City responded with wins in the next three games via scores of 26-24, 25-22, 25-21.
Morgan City had eight aces and 30 kills in the win.
Kennedy Hebert had 10 kills, one block and three digs, while Allie Vincent had two aces, 18 assists and three digs to lead Morgan City.
Other top contributors included Dwanna LeBeau, seven kills and one dig; Cecily Feliciano, one ace, four kills and five digs; Alex Thompson, five kills and one block; and Brandi Albarado, three aces.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-10, 25-10).
Sh’Diamond Holly had three kills and one dig for Morgan City, while Abby Reynaud added eight assists and one dig.
Other top contributors included Scottie Metrejean, two aces, one kill and five digs; Faith Crappell, one ace and five digs; Katelyn Gautreaux, two aces and two digs; and Hannah Gros, two aces and one dig.
In freshman action, Morgan City won 2-1 (25-16, 13-25, 15-8).
Morgan City had 17 aces in the victory.
Jolee Nini and Holly led Morgan City. Nini had six aces, two kills, three assists and two digs, while Holly had two aces, five kills, one block and two digs.
Other top contributors included Hallie Blanchard, one ace, one kill, one assist and four digs; and Gracie Gros, three aces and one kill.
Morgan City (3-3) will return to action Thursday when it hosts St. Martinville. Freshman action is set for a 4 p.m. start with junior varsity and varsity action to follow.
Berwick falls to Terrebonne
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell to Terrebonne 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-14) in varsity action on the road Tuesday.
Berwick had six blocks in the loss.
Ashton Morales led the squad with 11 kills, one block, five assists and five digs, while Mary Jordan Melancon had one kill, two blocks, nine assists and eight digs.
Other top contributors included Madelyn Gros, six kills, two blocks and five digs; Sydney Aucoin, four kills, one block, three assists and one dig; Brittany Roberie, one ace and 10 digs; Jordan Lipari, one kill and eight digs; Emma Hover, nine digs; and Rosalyn Gros, one ace and six digs.
Berwick (4-3) will return to action Thursday when it hosts South Terrebonne. Junior varsity action is set for a 4 p.m. start, varsity will follow at 5 p.m., and freshman action is set for 6 p.m.
Patterson falls to Highland Baptist
The Patterson Lumberjills fell to Highland Baptist 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-9) in varsity action on the road Tuesday.
Erykah Singleton had two kills, three digs, one block and one assist, while Makayla Ruiz had two aces, three kills and three digs.
Other top contributors included Kaitlynn Spradling, one ace, one kill and five digs, while Katelyn Larson had four assists and Arian Grogan, one kill and one block.
In junior varsity action, Patterson fell 2-0 (25-15, 25-18).
Madison Paul led Patterson with two aces, two kills and two digs.
Other top contributors included Shea Fontenot, three digs; Kiora Grady, one ace and one block; and Josie Merida, two assists.
Patterson (1-1) will return to action Saturday when they participate in Brusly’s tournament. The Lumberjills will face Woodlawn of Baton Rouge at 8:30 a.m.
