Tigers lose to Green Devils in 61-56 contest

Plaquemine stormed back from 13 points down in the fourth quarter to upend Morgan City 61-56 at Morgan City High School Tuesday night.

The Central Catholic Eagles will take on the Ascension Episcopal Blue Gators in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs Wednesday. The sixth-seed Eagles will have home field advantage against the 11th-seed Blue Gators when the game starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Amelia Recreation Center. The Lady Eagles defeated defending state champs Cedar Creek 6-4 at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Championship Tournament in Sulphur. They defeated Ascension Catholic on Friday and Catholic High-Pointe Coupee earlier Saturday, both close games ended with a score of 1-0. Landry had complete games in each of the contests.
