A 19-year-old former St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl and attempting to have sex with another 16-year-old girl was jailed Monday on the charges, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Preston Cuvillier Jr., 19, of the 500 block of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:36 p.m. Monday on a warrant for carnal knowledge of a juvenile and on a warrant for attempted carnal knowledge of a juvenile. On Thursday, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint on a deputy regarding computer aided solicitation of a juvenile and began an investigation, Hebert said.
The detective assigned to the case discovered that Cuvillier engaged in sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old female at a residence in Morgan City. The detective also learned during the investigation that Cuvillier sent text messages to a second 16-year-old female in an attempt to have sex with her, the sheriff said.
Cuvillier came to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City in reference to the investigation and was subsequently arrested on the warrants. Cuvillier was jailed with no bail set. He was later transferred to another jurisdiction, Hebert said.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Traci Landry said, “I can’t talk about specifically any disciplinary action if it was taken or not, but I can tell you that currently he is not an employee with our office.”
Hebert reported responding to 40 complaints in the parish.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Julia A. Johnson, 28, of 11th Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:50 a.m. Monday for simple escape, possession of a legend drug-Intuniv, and on a St. Mary Parish warrant for two counts of failure to comply with drug court.
An officer observed Johnson in the area of Garber Street and was aware of outstanding warrants for St. Mary Parish for failure to comply with terms of drug court. The officer detained Johnson. After escorting Johnson to the unit for transport, she became combative and began to resist, Banks said.
She began to flee from the officer and was able to partially break free from the handcuffs, Banks said. The officer was able to capture Johnson, who continued to resist. Johnson was eventually subdued and placed in the rear of a police unit and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Upon arrival at the police department, Johnson made attempts to free herself from the restraints. She was also found to be in possession of a legend drug-Intuniv without a prescription, Banks said. She was jailed.
—Christopher Hatfield, 42, of Morgan City, was arrested at 5:30 a.m. Monday for domestic abuse battery and criminal damage to property.
Officers were dispatched to a Brashear Avenue address in regards to a domestic complaint. Officers were advised by a female victim that she was involved in an altercation with Hatfield during which Hatfield struck the victim and damaged a cell phone, Banks said.
The officer gathered evidence which corroborated the statement and was able to locate Hatfield a short distance away from the residence. Hatfield was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
—Kebe A. Ennis, 33, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:56 a.m. Monday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and improper lighting.
An officer observed a vehicle with non-functioning brake lights on Federal Avenue and stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver, Ennis, who was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
—Joseph G. Soto, 27, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:45 a.m. Monday for serving time for driving under suspension, child restraint violation, improper turning, and a Terrebonne Parish warrant for domestic battery.
Soto was transported to the Morgan City Police Department to serve time on outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department as well as a warrant for Terrebonne Parish authorities. He was booked and incarcerated.
—Gary J. Johnson, 39, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:46 p.m. Monday on a warrant for a probation violation.
Johnson was located by officers on Short Street Alley and jailed.
—Brenda Blackenburg, 49, of Elaine Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:02 p.m. Monday for theft of goods (value $9.67) and possession of drug paraphernalia second offense.
Officers were dispatched to a La. 182 supermarket in regards to a shoplifter. Officers arrived and were advised by management that a female had been detained after she attempted to leave the premises without paying for $9.67 in goods. Officers located a pipe commonly used to ingest illegal narcotics in Blackenburg’s possession, Banks said. She was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Jassumen Price, 20, of Brocato Lane in Raceland, was arrested at 8:36 p.m. Monday on a Lafourche Parish warrant for contempt of court. Price was jailed awaiting transport to Lafourche Parish.
—Sadie Percle, 21, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 3:11 a.m. today for disturbing the peace. Bail is set at $150.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
