A Siracusaville woman was arrested Tuesday for fourth offense possession of marijuana, among other charges, following a search warrant.
—Chantal Ruffin, 25, of the 1400 block of James Street in Siracusaville, was charged at 4:53 p.m. Tuesday for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) 4th offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Ebonique Clark, 23, of the 1100 block of Grace Street in Siracusaville, was arrested at 4:53 p.m. Tuesday for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff Mark Hebert said detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, along with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division, conducted a search warrant at a James Street address. Detectives located marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia.
Clark was released on a summons to appear in court. Ruffin is being held with no bail set.
Hebert reported the following additional arrests:
—Crystal Mauney, 34, of the 200 block of Grandwood Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:32 a.m. Tuesday for reckless operation of a vehicle, possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of Schedule IV narcotics and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods.
A deputy responding to a complaint of a reckless driver observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and swerving from lane to lane on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area. During the course of the traffic stop, deputies received consent to search the vehicle and located generic forms of Adderall and Valium.
Mauney was jailed with no bail set.
—Lawrence Blackburn, 36, of the 1100 block of Grace Street in Siracusaville, was arrested at 6:57 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant from Morgan City Police for failure to appear on the charge of driving under suspension. A deputy investigating an unrelated complaint made contact with Blackburn at his residence and learned of the active warrant. Blackburn was transferred to another jurisdiction.
—Joseph Dawson, 22, of the 300 block of Nora Lane in Thibodaux, was arrested at 9:48 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for theft. A deputy transported Dawson from the Lafourche Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville on the warrant, which stems from an investigation into a shoplifting complaint at a Bayou Vista store. Dawson was released after posting $7,500 bail.
—Dennis Furlette, 51, of the 5000 block of Bayou Black Drive in Gibson, was arrested at 7:53 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant from Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on the charge of improper turning. A deputy made contact with Furlette during a traffic stop in Amelia. Furlette is being held on $500 bail.
—Chasity R. Marshall, 26, of the 600 block of Seventy-Nine Pines in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant from the City of Patterson for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. A deputy located Marshall at her residence. She is being held with no bail.
—Kalyn Rodriguez, 26, of the 200 block of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:43 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods. A deputy responding to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista learned from store personnel that Rodriguez was seen taking an item from its packaging and concealing it in her pocket. Rodriguez was released on a summons to appear in court.
—Marquis Rogers, 17, of the 600 block of Superior Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:54 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for disturbing the peace (fighting). A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Teche Road in Bayou Vista and subsequently learned that Rogers, the passenger, was wanted. The warrant stems from a fight that occurred on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista in May.
—Jason Alfred, 37, of Two Sisters Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:18 p.m. Monday on a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. Alfred turned himself in to narcotics detectives at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. He was released on a summons to appear in court.
—Patrick Leblanc, 25, of the 900 block of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:24 a.m. Tuesday for possession of Schedule I (synthetic cannabinoids) with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of legend drug (Robaxin and Phenergan) and keeping a disorderly place.
—Miranda Vining, 31, of the 200 block of Onstead Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:24 a.m. Tuesday for possession of Schedule I (marijuana).
Narcotics detectives conducted a search warrant at a First Street address in Morgan City. Upon entering the residence, detectives observed narcotics in plain view. Also, during the course of the search, detectives located a bag of synthetic cannabinoids, Robaxin pills, Phenergan pills, empty packages of synthetic cannabinoids and a bag of marijuana, along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia. Leblanc and Vining were transported to the parish jail. Vining was released on $2,000 bail. No bail is set for Leblanc.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—William Stokes, 49, of New Iberia, was arrested at 10:31 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for probation violation and failure to pay probation fees. While on patrol in the area of Marguerite and Seventh streets, police observed a vehicle make a turn onto Marguerite Street and accelerate to a high rate of speed traveling east on Marguerite Street. A traffic stop was conducted and officers found warrants on Stokes during their investigation. Stokes was jailed.
—Joshua Ruiz, 30, of Morgan City, was arrested at 2:29 a.m. today for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, no insurance and expired motor vehicle inspection sticker. Police were dispatched to U.S. 90 near Martin Luther King Boulevard for a single vehicle crash. Ruiz refused both field sobriety tests and the chemical test for intoxication. He was jailed.
—Alicia Bertrand, 28, of Patterson, was arrested at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday for driving under suspension, resisting an officer by giving false information, failure to signal, possession of Schedule IV drug with intent to distribute and warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Officers on patrol observed a vehicle in the area of Railroad and Federal avenues not use its turn signal. During the traffic stop, Bertrand gave officers a false name. She gave consent to search her vehicle, and officers located several pills in a cellophane bag suspected to be alprazolam. Bertrand was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Shaquincy Perro, 32, of the 100 block of Muggah Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:33 p.m. Tuesday at the Patterson Police Department for contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Perro remains jailed on $1,000 bail.
—Shailon Favors, 21, of the 100 block of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 10:11 p.m. Tuesday at the Patterson Police Department for remaining where forbidden. Favors remains jailed on $217 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
