A Patterson woman was arrested in Franklin for domestic abuse and assault.
Franklin Chief Sabria McGuire said Yvisha Levine, 24, of Morrison Street in Patterson, was arrested Tuesday at 9:44 p.m. on warrants charging her with domestic abuse battery and aggravated assault. Levine also was arrested on a warrant for Third Ward City Court for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. Levine was held on $15,233 bail.
Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following east St. Mary Parish arrests:
—Two 15-year-old females, both residents of Patterson, were arrested at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday for disturbing the peace (fighting). A deputy responded to a complaint of a fight between two students at Patterson High School where the two teenagers were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical encounter. Both juveniles were released to their guardians.
—Michael Alvarez, 38, of the 100 block of Beadle Street in Amelia, was arrested at 10:39 a.m. Tuesday on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy located Alvarez at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrants. Bail is set at $200,000.
—Mindy L. Macaluso, 31, of the 500 block of Arcemont Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 10:52 a.m. Tuesday for obstruction of justice. A deputy investigating a complaint of a vehicle crash on La. 182 in the Patterson area made contact with Macaluso who was one of the drivers. She initially told the deputy no one else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. As the investigation progressed, the deputy learned that Glenn L. Rochel Jr. fled the scene of the crash on foot. Rochel is wanted on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple assault, and he remains at large. Macaluso was released after posting $500 bail.
—Melissa Blanco, 41, of the 3500 block of La. 182 in Berwick, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday for theft. A deputy responded to a report of a theft at a business located on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Blanco, an employee, took just over $170 in cash from a register. She was released on a summons to appear in court.
—Two male Bayou Vista teens, ages 14 and 16, were arrested at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday for criminal mischief. A deputy responded to a complaint of juveniles kicking a utility trailer on Field Road in Bayou Vista. The juveniles were located on a nearby street. They were released to their guardians pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Kelly McMinn, 18, of the 100 block of Dotties Lane in Franklin, was arrested for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Morgan City area observed a vehicle following too closely to another vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on La. 182. McMinn, the driver, gave consent to search the vehicle and located several burnt marijuana cigarettes and items of drug paraphernalia. McMinn was released on a summons to appear in court.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Jade May, 22, of the 400 block of Mike Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday for remaining where forbidden and simple criminal damage to property (under $500). May remains jailed on $1,065 bail.
—Amber Swanson, 17, of the 1200 block of Catherine Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:24 p.m. Tuesday for simple criminal damage to property, resisting an officer by failure to comply and a hold for Morgan City Police for truancy. Swanson remains jailed on $596 bail.
—Beth Rowland, 38, of the 100 block of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 7:49 p.m. Tuesday for simple battery on a juvenile. Rowland remains jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Pamela Conerly, 29, of the 3000 block of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:04 a.m. Tuesday for domestic abuse battery. She was released on bail.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Denzel Washington, 24, of Port Arthur, Texas, was arrested at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday for driving through private property to avoid traffic controls, possession of Schedule I synthetic cannabinoids second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police noticed a vehicle in the area of La. 182 near Myrtle Street at the traffic light bypass the red traffic signal and turn into a private parking lot on La. 182 to avoid the red traffic signal, Banks said. Officers came into contact with Washington, the driver of the vehicle, and suspected synthetic cannabinoids were found inside the vehicle, along with items used to smoke the suspected synthetic cannabinoids, Banks said. Washington was jailed.
—Cedric Gant, 17, of Morgan City, was arrested at 9:41 a.m. Tuesday for simple battery.
Police were called to Morgan City High School in regards to a student committing a battery on another student. School personnel stated Gant was accused of committing the battery. Gant was jailed.
—Dezin Young, 42, of Morgan City, was arrested at 2 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for probation violation. Young turned himself in and was jailed.
—Robin Carbins, 47, of Morgan City, was arrested at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear for disturbing the peace and on a warrant for failure to appear for illegal carrying of a weapon.
Police observed Carbins in the area of Myrtle Street, and Carbins was jailed.
—Jarrette Babineaux, 28, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:09 p.m. Tuesday for simple battery involving a juvenile and resisting an officer.
Police were dispatched to a residence on Freret Street in regards to an adult committing a battery on a juvenile
Officers learned that the adult had attacked the juvenile in the area of Fifth Street. The juvenile was able to provide a description of the suspect. Officers located the suspect in the area of Fifth and Maine streets, Banks said.
When officers began to talk to Babineaux, he pushed an officer and tried to run, Banks said. Officers were able to subdue Babineaux, and he was jailed.
—Dwayne Clark, 42, of Amelia, was arrested at 6:30 a.m. today on a warrant for two counts of domestic abuse battery. Clark turned himself in and was jailed.
—A juvenile male, 16, of Morgan City, was arrested at 9:41 a.m. Tuesday for simple battery.
Officers responded to the Morgan City High in regards to a student committing a battery on another student, Banks said. School personnel advised that the juvenile pushed another student. The juvenile was released to his guardian.
