A 57-year-old Morgan City man was charged Monday after being accused of trying to cash a stolen check for $1,500, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Nathaniel Clark, 57, of the 1000 block of Grace Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Monday for unauthorized use of an access card as theft and for a warrant on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A detective investigated a complaint involving the theft of checks from a victim in Morgan City Dec. 4, Hebert said.
During the investigation, contact was made with Clark. Clark admitted to attempting to cash a stolen check, written in the amount of $1,500, Hebert said. The deputy also learned that Clark had an active warrant for his arrest. Clark was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 81 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Jose Ojeda, 26, of the 100 block of West Side Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 6:25 a.m. Monday for disturbing the peace. A deputy assigned to the Amelia area investigated numerous calls of a reckless driver. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Ojeda, at his residence and found him to be intoxicated. Ojeda was jailed with bail set at $500.
—Stephen Sliter, 44, of the 100 block of Watson Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:19 p.m. Monday for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance in Patterson. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Sliter and a female victim were involved in an argument when Sliter pushed and shoved the victim’s face, Hebert said. Sliter was jailed with no bail set.
—Troy Russell Billiot, 27, of the 5300 block of La. 182 in Patterson, was arrested at 5:05 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace by fighting.
—Troy Billiot, 49, of the 300 block of Venus Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 5:05 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace by fighting.
A deputy responded to a disturbance at a residence in Bayou Vista. As the investigation progressed, the deputy learned that Troy Russell Billiot and Troy Billiot were involved in a fist fight, Hebert said. Troy Russell Billiot was jailed and released on $500 bail. Troy Billiot was jailed and released on a summons to appear in court March 11, 2015.
—Nhirobi Dewey, 18, of the 900 block of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:20 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery. Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on La. 182 in Morgan City. Detectives made contact with the driver, Dewey, and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. Dewey was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Titianna R. Francois, 17, of Orange Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:36 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace by fighting.
—Audaria D. Jones, 18, of Seventh Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:36 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace by fighting
Officers were dispatched to Morgan City High School where they were advised that two students, Jones and Francois, had been involved in a fistic encounter on school property. Both were jailed.
—Thomas D. Remedies, 21, of Second Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:31 p.m. Monday for criminal trespass and on a warrant for six counts of failure to comply with drug court.
Officers were dispatched to a Franklin Street residence regarding a person trespassing on the property. Officers arrived and located Remedies in the rear of the residence and detained him for investigation. Remedies, who was not authorized to be on the property, was found to have several outstanding warrants and subsequently arrested. He was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Aaron Dinger, 22, of Pacific Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:46 p.m. Monday on three warrants for failure to comply with terms of drug court. Dinger was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
