Bayou Vista man accused of threatening women with knife

A 55-year old Bayou Vista man was arrested today after allegedly confronting two women with a kitchen knife, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Wendell Chauvin, 55, of the 500 block of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested 3:08 a.m. today on the charges of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Bayou Vista.
Upon arrival, the deputy learned that Chauvin was yelling at two female subjects, that he knew, when they went into a bedroom and locked the door. Chauvin then used a kitchen knife to break the molding off the door and confronted the two female victims while holding the knife.
The deputy transported Chauvin to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Hebert reported responding to 34 complaints and reported the following arrests:
—Kentrell Diggs, 23, of the 400 block of Lagonda Street in Bayou Vista, at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, failure to use seat belts, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy transported Diggs to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center from the Terrebonne Parish jail on the warrant. Diggs was released on bail set at $324.50.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Kenneth M Rhyne, 38, of Shane Street in Pierre Part at 12:27 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance (Buprenorphine). Officers responded to a local business on La.182 in regards to a subject sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle.
Officers made contact with Rhyne, who was identified as the occupant reported to be asleep in the vehicle. Reports indicated that while speaking with officers, Rhyne appeared to be very nervous.
Officers were assisted by the Morgan City Police Dept. K-9, which resulted in a search of the vehicle. During the search, officers located what was believed to be Buprenorphine inside of the vehicle.
Rhyne was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Dept. where he was booked and jailed.
—Travis D Lamar, 33, of Palm Street in Berwick, at 2:54 p.m. Tuesday on warrants with the 6th Ward City Court for probation violation, failure to appear on possession of synthetic marijuana and failure to appear on issuing worthless checks.
Lamar was turned over to the Morgan City Police Department by the 6th Ward City Court in regards to the warrants for his arrest held by Morgan City Police. Lamar was booked into the Morgan City Police Jail and incarcerated.
—Jinny L. Menegay, 20, of La. 182 in Morgan City, at 3:16 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Bradley R. Mamieson, 20, of La. 182 in Morgan City, at 3:16 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers responded to an apartment building on La. 182 in regards to information of illegal drug activity inside one of the apartments.
The officers arrived and contact was made with the two occupants of the residence, identified as Bradley Jamieson and Jinny L. Menegay. Officers observed suspected marijuana along with drug paraphernalia in plain view.
A search was conducted and officers located more suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both Jamieson and Menegay were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Dept. where they were booked and jailed.
—Melanie A Ruffin, 44, of Canary Street in Morgan City, at 4:57 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant with the 6th Ward City Court for failure to appear to pay fines. Ruffin came into the Morgan City Police Department to turn herself in on an active warrant held for her arrest by Morgan City Police.
Ruffin was booked into the Morgan City Police Dept. Jail and incarcerated.
—Kentrell F Diggs, 23, of Lagonda Street in Morgan City, at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on warrants with the 6th Ward City Court for probation violation and failure to appear to pay probation fee. Diggs was transported to the Morgan City Police Department by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in regards to active warrants for his arrest. Kentrell was booked into the Morgan City Police Dept. Jail and incarcerated.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
