Gibson resident arrested here on gun and cocaine charges

A 29-year-old Gibson man was found with a gun and crack cocaine Tuesday after police stopped a vehicle in Morgan City, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Roger Short, 29, of Mary Street in Gibson, was arrested at 7:21 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance and on a warrant charging him with possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Short was a passenger in a vehicle stopped in connection with a police investigation.
Officers located a gun and a pack of cigarettes containing suspected crack cocaine. The items were located near Short.
Short admitted the gun was his and that he smoked the same brand of cigarettes, Blair said. Short was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Sherkera Sylvester, 35, of Short Street in Morgan City, at 2:24 p.m. Tuesday on warrants charging her with illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of Schedule II narcotics and failure to appear for revocation of issuing worthless checks. Sylvester was located by officers in the area of Roderick Street. Officers arrested her on warrants, and she was jailed.
—Sheena Sanders, 32, Gen. McArthur Street in Morgan City, at 3:16 p.m. Tuesday on warrants charging her with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage.
Sanders was located on Brashear Avenue. Officers made contact with Sanders, and she was jailed.
—Robert Mulligan, 63, of Third Street in Morgan City at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with illegal possession of stolen things over $1,000.
An officer patrolling the area of La. 182 and Myrtle Street observed Mulligan riding in a vehicle. The officer knew of an outstanding warrant for Mulligan and conducted a traffic stop. The warrant stems from an investigation in which Mulligan sold an item taken in a vehicle burglary, Blair said.
—Micah Soileau, 18, of Joey Street in Morgan City, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with probation violation.
Soileau was already incarcerated at the Morgan City Jail when a warrant was issued for a probation violation. Soileau was booked and remains incarcerated.
—Jasmine Ayers, 26, of Bailey Lane in Amelia, at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to comply with drug court and on the charge of resisting an officer by giving false information.
Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 90 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Upon speaking with Ayers, she gave officers the name of Jasmine Charles.
After checking warrants officers determine that Ayers was using the name of Jasmine Charles to hide the fact that she was wanted by drug court, Blair said. Ayers was jailed.
—Carlos Perez, 28, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, at 12:15 a.m. today on the charges of no driver’s license and improper lane usage.
A patrolling officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of La. 182 and U.S. 90 after observing a vehicle weaving between the lanes of travel. Upon identifying the driver as Perez, the officer learned that Perez did not have a driver’s license. Perez was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Joyce Triggs, 61, of the 800 block of Tall Timbers Drive in Patterson, at 8:22 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of simple battery. Triggs was released on $319 recognizance bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
