Police arrest two in armed robbery case

Morgan City police arrested two more people in connection with an Oct. 30 armed robbery on Federal Avenue, bringing the total arrests in the case to four.
—Eric Howard, 17, of Patterson, was arrested at 2:46 a.m. today on warrants charging him with armed robbery and aggravated burglary and a Patterson police warrant charging him with theft from a motor vehicle.
Howard was located by officers and arrested in connection with an armed robbery investigation, police said. The investigation is still ongoing.
—Kedesha Scott, 20, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:27 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with principal to armed robbery.
Scott was located by patrol officers who knew of a warrant for her arrest. Scott was jailed on the warrant connected to the ongoing investigation into an Oct. 30 armed robbery.
On Monday, Latifha Friels, 22, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested and charged with armed robbery in connection with the case.
Police made the first arrest in the case the day of the armed robbery. DeShawn Sylvester, 17, of Short Street in Morgan City, was arrested on the charges of armed robbery, aggravated burglary, possession of Schedule II crack cocaine and illegal carrying of a weapon with a violent crime or controlled dangerous substance.
At about 3:30 p.m. Oct. 30, the Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of an armed robbery in the area of the 700 block of Federal Avenue.
Sylvester allegedly pointed a gun at the victim and took roughly $700 in cash and a cellphone, police said.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Robin Carbins, 28, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:14 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of appearing in public in an intoxicated condition and remaining after being forbidden.
Officers responded to a La. 182 business after a complaint of a subject who was not allowed on the property. Officers identified Carbins as the person and spoke with him after he was found sleeping in the restroom of the business.
Carbins admitted that he had been drinking and, according to reports, was intoxicated, Blair said. Carbins was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
—Toby Ledet, 42, of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:04 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear for arraignment.
Officers were dispatched to an La. 182 business after a person there was attempting to purchase an alcoholic beverage without an ID. Officers spoke with Ledet, who was jailed on a warrant.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 74 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Irvin Celestine Jr., 33, of the 100 block of 11th Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone), transactions involving drug proceeds, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at Celestine’s home in the 100 block of 11th Street in Morgan City. While searching the location, detectives located several bags of marijuana, a bag of cocaine, digital scales, $676 in cash, plastic baggies and a handgun.
Detectives ran Celestine’s criminal history and found that he is a convicted felon. Also, Celestine’s home is within two thousand feet of a church. Celestine was jailed.
—Brian Henderson, 32, of the 700 block of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:02 p.m. Monday on warrants for violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone), possession of Schedule II (cocaine) with intent to distribute over 28 grams, resisting an officer and obstruction of justice.
Narcotics detectives, who knew Henderson was wanted on the warrant, observed him leaving the parking lot of a business off of La. 182 in Morgan City.
Detectives notified a patrol deputy who stopped the vehicle Henderson was in and made contact. Henderson was then transported to the parish jail for booking.
The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division assisted in apprehending Henderson. The warrant for his arrest was obtained after detectives observed Henderson dropping several bags of cocaine on the ground while fleeing from them on Friendship Alley in Amelia.
—Darrell Orgeron, 45, of the 3200 block of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:57 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle run the stop sign at the intersection of Southeast Boulevard and Middle Road. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Orgeron.
While speaking with Orgeron, detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located a glass pipe used by Orgeron to smoke methamphetamine. Following the investigation, Orgeron was released on a summons to appear in court Feb. 11.
—Wilson Bailey, 36, of the 500 block of Belanger Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:04 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of marijuana. Narcotics detectives observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn off of Clothilde Street in Morgan City and conducted a traffic stop.
Detectives made contact with the driver, identified as Bailey. While speaking with Bailey, detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located a small bag of marijuana.
Bailey was released on a summons to appear in court Feb. 11.
—Ebony P. Francois, 33, of the 700 block of Park Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for probation violation.
A deputy responding to a report of a crash in the parking lot of a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista made contact with Francois and learned of the active warrant for her arrest. Francois was released on a $5,000 bail.
—Devin Metrejean, 22, of the 500 block of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:37 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license, driving on the right side of the road, switched license plate, and failure to honor written promise to appear.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a possible trespasser at a residence in Centerville. The deputy made contact with Metrejean and located the active warrant for his arrest. Metrejean was jailed and released after paying a $380 fine.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
