Police: Man struck victim with brick

A 58-year-old Morgan City man was charged with aggravated battery Friday after he allegedly struck someone in the head with a brick, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Roscoe Williams, 58, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:43 p.m. Friday on the charges of aggravated second-degree battery.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Railroad Avenue in regards to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they spoke to the victim, who had a large laceration on his forehead. The victim stated that he had gotten into an altercation with Williams and that Williams had struck him with a brick.
Officers located Williams, who admitted to striking the victim with a brick. Williams was jailed, and the victim was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injury.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Danielle L. Bennett, 26, of First Street in Morgan City, at 3:57 p.m. Saturday on a warrant charging her with cruelty to a juvenile.
—Tamra L. Manning, 33, of First Street in Morgan City, at 3:57 p.m. Saturday on a warrant charging her with cruelty to a juvenile.
Both Bennett and Manning were already incarcerated in the Morgan City jail, when an additional charge of cruelty to a juvenile was placed on them. Police conducted an investigation beginning Nov. 18, in which Bennett and Manning are allegedly to have committed a battery on an 8-year-old boy. Both Bennett and Manning were booked and continue to be incarcerated.
—John E. Aucoin, 45, of Houma, at 6:46 a.m. Friday on a warrant for four counts of failure to appear and a Department of Corrections warrant charging him with probation violation.
Aucoin was transported from the Terrebonne Parish Jail to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the Sixth Ward City Court and the Louisiana Department of Corrections. Aucoin was jailed.
—Carlos Gonzalez-Mejia, 28, of Eighth Street in Morgan City, at 7:16 a.m. Friday on the charges of appearing in an intoxicated condition and simple battery.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Eighth Street in regards to a disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim, who stated that Gonzalez-Mejia had committed a battery on him. Officers noticed marks on the victim’s facial area consistent with his statement.
Officers located Mejia inside the residence, and he appeared intoxicated. Mejia was jailed.
—Jacob R. Salley, 38, of First Street in Morgan City, at 8:03 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear.
Salley was located on Victor II Boulevard and determined to have an active warrant for the 6th Ward City Court. Salley was jailed.
—Nicholas A. Feliciano, 20, of Allison Street in Morgan City, at 12:41 a.m. Sunday on the charges of attempted unlawful purchase of alcohol beverage for persons under 21 and appearing intoxicated in public.
—Kerry A. Martin, 19, of Garber Street in Morgan City, at 12:41 a.m. Sunday on the charges of possession of alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle and no driver’s license.
Officers were dispatched to a local convenience store on La. 182 in regards to an underage individual wanting to purchase alcohol. When the officers arrived, management stated that Feliciano was trying to make a purchase of alcohol, but was under age.
Officers spoke to Feliciano and could smell a strong odor alcohol on his breath. Feliciano admitted to trying to purchase alcohol for himself and another individual waiting outside for him. Officers located Martin, who had driven Feliciano to the store.
Martin did not have a valid driver’s license. Officers also noticed open containers of alcohol on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Both Feliciano and Martin were jailed.
—Rodolfo Ramirez, 40, of Houma, at 2:09 a.m. Sunday on the charge of appearing in intoxicated in public.
Officers located Ramirez in the parking lot of a local bar on Victor II Boulevard. Ramirez was sitting inside a truck and officers asked him to exit the vehicle. As officers approached, they notice that Ramirez was unable to maintain his balance and they could smell a strong odor alcoholic beverage on his breath. Ramirez was jailed.
—Felix D. Oclair, 20, of St. Augustine, Florida, at 10:27 p.m. Sunday on the charges of license plate light required and driving under suspension.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 near 11th Street observed a vehicle with improper lighting and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Oclair, had a suspended driver’s license. Oclair was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 122 complaints and reported the following arrest:
—Wilfridin Velez-Santiago, 30, of the 300 block of Grizzaffi Street in Morgan City, at 8:44 p.m. Saturday on the charges of speeding, no driver’s license, and open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle. A deputy patrolling Amelia observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on La. 182 and conducted a traffic stop.
The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Velez-Santiago and learned that he was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The deputy also observed an open bottle of beer inside the vehicle.
Velez-Santiago was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 11, 2016.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Shane Scott, 32, of Spruce Street in Morgan City, at 2:42 p.m. Friday on the charges of driving under suspension and warrant for probation and parole. No bail is set.
—Jonathan Daigle, 56, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, at 9:07 p.m. Friday on the charges of improper lane usage and driving while intoxicated second offense by refusing breathalyzer test. Daigle was transferred to Centerville jail.

—Cherry Donati, 30, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, at 8:39 p.m. Friday on the charge of simple burglary and on a warrant for the City Court of Morgan City for speeding. No bail is set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
