Police: Two people appeared intoxicated in court

A Morgan City man and woman were charged with contempt of court Tuesday after appearing intoxicated in city court, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—John Jones, 24, of Arcemont Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday for contempt of court for appearing intoxicated.
—Janna Gilmore, 30, of Arcemont Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of contempt of court.
Officers were called to assist the City Court of Morgan City after two people in court appeared to be under the influence of some type of intoxicants, Blair said. Officer arrested Gilmore and Jones on contempt of court charges. Both suspects were brought to the Morgan City Police Department Jail and incarcerated.
Blair reported the following arrest:
—Jessie Hart, 23, of Houma, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of resisting an officer.
Hart was already incarcerated in the Morgan City Police Department Jail when it was found that he had a second outstanding warrant for his arrest. Hart was booked on the warrant and remains incarcerated.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 40 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Donna S. Reed, 44, of the 1900 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, at 6:26 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended license and operating a vehicle with an expired license plate.
A deputy responding to a complaint on Saturn Road made contact with Reed and located the active warrant for her arrest. Reed was jailed and released on $1,000 bail.
—Karlyn A. Knudsen, 57, of the 100 block of Redwood Lane in Thibodaux, at 2:51 a.m. today on the charges of license plate light required and no insurance.
A deputy assigned to patrol the Amelia area observed a vehicle on Joel Boulevard without a visible license plate due to the vehicle having no license plate light. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on Duhon Boulevard and made contact with the driver, identified as Knudsen. While speaking with Knudsen, the deputy learned that she was operating the vehicle without insurance. Knudsen was released on a summons to appear in court March 7, 2016.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Effie Wiltz, 31, of the 400 block of Wilson Street in Berwick, at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of theft by shoplifting. Wiltz was jailed with $300 bail set.
—Beau Boudreaux, 17, of the 200 block of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and license plate required. Boudreaux was released on $3,750 bail.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Dean Darby, 25, of Iberia Street in Franklin, 6:26 p.m. Tuesday on a Morgan City Court warrant for failure to appear on the charges of simple assault and disturbing the peace. Darby was booked awaiting transport to Morgan City.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
