Police: Two seriously injured in head-on crash in Morgan City
The drivers of two vehicles sustained serious injuries Saturday night in a wreck on Greenwood Overpass after the driver of a pickup truck traveling westbound crossed into the eastbound lanes hitting a car head-on, Morgan City Police Spokesman Capt. James Blair said.
At 7:52 p.m. Saturday, Ronald Marcantel, 54, of Morgan City, was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger pulling a boat on the Greenwood Overpass going westbound when he crossed into the eastbound lanes hitting a 2012 Ford Taurus traveling eastbound driven by Davida Bias, 31, of Morgan City, Blair said.
Marcantel sustained serious injuries and was in critical condition at Teche Regional Medical Center as of Saturday night, Blair said. Bias also sustained serious yet non-life threatening injuries and was flown to the hospital by air-med, Blair said.
Marcantel will be cited for reckless operation and open container violation, Blair said. Toxicology results on Marcantel are pending, Blair said. Bias will be cited for driving under suspension, Blair said. The roadway was cleared by 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Blair said.
