Sheriff: Suspect caught with meth

A 37-year-old Berwick man was charged Monday with intending to distribute methamphetamine after authorities found several bags of meth at his Fairview Drive residence, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jason Cooper, 37, of the 100 block of Fairview Drive in Berwick, was arrested at 5:26 p.m. Monday on the charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives accompanied by the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at 100 Fairview Drive, Hebert said.
Detectives located Cooper in the front yard. During the search of Cooper’s residence, detectives located several bags of methamphetamine, Hebert said. Cooper was jailed and released after posting $5,000 bail.
Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Kelly S. Richard, 36, of the 100 block of Cross LaRue in Pierre Part, was arrested at 10:45 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding and on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy received information that Richard was at a motel located on La. 182 in Morgan City. The deputy located Richard, who was jailed with no bail set.
—Nathaniel Rollins, 19, of the 100 block of Diane Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 12:51 p.m. Monday on the charge of theft of goods.
—Tabitha Rollins, 42, of the 100 block of Diane Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 12:56 p.m. Monday on the charge of theft of goods.
A deputy responded to a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Using a description provided by a store employee, the deputy located two suspects on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista.
The mother and son were seen on video surveillance placing items into a shopping cart before leaving the store without paying for the goods. The deputy released the subjects on summonses to appear in court Aug. 19.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Tracy A. Thomas, 47, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:11 a.m. Monday on a warrant charging her with forgery. Thomas turned herself in to the Morgan City Police Department and was jailed.
—Flora D. Paddio, 45, of Freret Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:28 p.m. Monday on the charges of switched license plate, insurance violation and no seat belt.
A patrol officer in the area of Freret Street and Federal Avenue noticed a driver not wearing a seat belt, Blair said. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Paddio, could not provide proof of insurance or a valid registration for the vehicle, Blair said. Also, the license plate on the vehicle had been switched, the chief said. Paddio was jailed and later released on bail.
—Brandon L. Boudreaux, 29, of Elizabeth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. today on the charges of possession of Schedule I CDS synthetic marijuana second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia second offense and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Justa Street near Karen Drive in regard to a man in the area causing a disturbance. Officers located Boudreaux, who officers discovered had suspected synthetic marijuana on him, Blair said. He was jailed.
—Sade Singleton, 25, of Morgan City, was arrested at 11:02 p.m. Sunday on the charges of theft less than $750.
Detectives started an investigation April 30 in regard to an employee of a business stealing money from the register. According to police, Singleton took money from customers’ purchases, but did not record the purchases on the register. The amount totaled $57, Blair said. Singleton was located at her place of employment and jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Kevin D. Harvey, 33, of the 1500 block of Hickory Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:40 p.m. Friday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office drug court warrant charging him with possession of cocaine.
Harvey was jailed on $100,000 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Juan German-Perez, 31, of Trevino Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:10 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. He posted $175 bail.
