Sheriff: Woman stole wheel, rim off car

A 48-year-old Bayou L’Ourse woman was arrested Friday after she was accused of stealing a tire and rim off a vehicle, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Melinda Garrison, 48, of the 100 block of Vivian Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 8:08 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with theft. The warrant is the result of an investigation into a theft that occurred in the parking lot of a business on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia.
A tire and rim was stolen off of a vehicle, the sheriff said. The deputy identified Garrison as the person seen on video surveillance removing the tire, Hebert said. Another deputy made contact with Garrison at a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista and learned of the active warrant for her arrest. Bail is set at $1,000.
Hebert reported responding to 117 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—A juvenile male, 15, of Patterson, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Sunday on the charge of theft.
—Devonte M. Breaux, 17, of the 200 block of Cremo Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Sunday on the charge of theft.
A deputy responded to a report of a theft of two bicycles. The bikes were stolen from a residence on Lori Lane in the Patterson area. With the assistance of witnesses and observant residents in the area, the deputy located two suspects and the bikes in the area, Hebert said.
The suspects were identified as the juvenile male and Breaux. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings. Breaux was released on a summons to appear in court July 22. The stolen bikes, an adult bike and child’s bike, were returned to the owners.
—Shane D. Todd, 39, of the 200 block of Willow Bend Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of violation notices for animals at large. A deputy responding to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence in the Patterson area made contact with Todd and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. Todd was released after paying a $287.50 fine.
—Michael R. Wilkerson, 24, of the 200 block of Mars Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:27 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace. A deputy made contact with Wilkerson at his residence and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. Wilkerson was later released on $500 bail.
—Jeremiah E. Luke, 35, of the 100 block of Jordan Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:37 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace by public intoxication.
A deputy responded to a report of a suspicious person on Field Road in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that a male subject was stumbling down the roadway causing a disturbance in the area. The deputy made contact with the person who was identified as Luke and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, Hebert said. Luke was unable to stand and was slurring his speech, Hebert said. Luke was jailed with bail set at $500.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Stephen Bias, 50, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:32 a.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with forgery.
Detectives conducted an investigation April 18 in regard to Bias cashing a personal check at a business. Bias was located at his residence and jailed.
—Ciara Williams, 26, of Lafayette, was arrested at 9:52 p.m. Friday on the charges of driving under suspension and failure to yield at a red light.
A patrolling officer in the area of Seventh Street and Brashear Avenue noticed a vehicle fail to stop at the red traffic signal at that location and conducted a traffic stop, Blair said. The driver, Williams, was jailed.
—Toya Hamm, 32, of Franklin, was arrested at 11:09 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, stop sign violation and operating a vehicle while intoxicated second offense.
A patrolling officer in the area of Sixth and Clothilde streets noticed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Hamm, had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from her, police said.
The officer also noticed an open can of alcoholic beverage inside of her vehicle. Hamm registered 0.147 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration.
—Brittany Morgan, 24, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:52 p.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace.
—Kalab Wood, 20, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:52 p.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace.
Officers were dispatched to a Glenwood Street residence in regard to a disturbance. Officers spoke to Wood, who told them that he and his girlfriend, Morgan, had gotten into a verbal altercation, Blair said.
Morgan also stated that she and Wood were arguing, Blair said. Both Morgan and Wood were jailed.
—Fran Keller, 51, of Morgan City, was arrested at 6:49 p.m. Sunday on the charge of appearing in public intoxicated.
—William Leedy, 39, of Morgan City, was arrested at 6:49 p.m. Sunday on the charge of appearing in public intoxicated.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Seventh Street in regard to a male urinating behind a building and a woman slumped over on a bench, Blair said. Officers located both Keller and Leedy. Officers could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on both Leedy and Keller, Blair said. Leedy also admitted to urinating behind one of the buildings in the area, Blair said. Both Leedy and Keller were jailed.
—Lucio Garcia, 30, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:52 a.m. Sunday on the charges of speeding, no driver’s license and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 near Cottonwood Street noticed a vehicle speeding and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Garcia, had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on him, police said.
Garcia did poorly on a field sobriety test, Blair said. Garcia registered 0.174 grams-percent blood alcohol content. He was jailed.
—Jemoud Watts, 24, of Apple Street, was arrested at 6:59 p.m. Sunday on warrants charging him with failure to appear for theft and failure to appear contempt of court.
A patrolling officer in the area of Fifth and Everett streets noticed Watts in the area. The officer was aware of the outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court, and Watts was jailed.
—Sade Singleton, 25, of Morgan City, was arrested at 11:02 p.m. Sunday on the charges of theft less than $750.
Detectives started an investigation April 30 in regard to an employee of a business stealing money from the register. According to police, Singleton took money from customers’ purchases, but did not record the purchases on the register. The amount totaled $57, Blair said. Singleton was located at her place of employment and jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Kevin D. Harvey, 33, of the 1500 block of Hickory Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:40 p.m. Friday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office drug court warrant charging him with possession of cocaine. Harvey was jailed on $100,000 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Juan German-Perez, 31, of Trevino Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:10 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. He posted $175 bail.
