State Police: Morgan City man dies in single-vehicle crash
A 56-year-old Morgan City man died Sunday after his vehicle ran off the roadway, rolled several times and ejected him from the vehicle, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop C news release.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m. Sunday, state troopers began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on La. 662 north of U.S. 90. The crash took the life of Bruce Campbell, 56, of Morgan City, police said.
The initial investigation revealed that Campbell was traveling south on La. 662 when he entered a slight curve to the left. He ran off of the road to the right and struck a driveway, causing his vehicle to roll several times, police said. Campbell was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from his vehicle. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office, the news release said.
Alcohol use is unknown at this time but standard toxicology results are pending. Speed is suspected as being a factor in the crash, the release said.
