Three men who fled to Texas after police say they took part in a Sunday morning robbery and attempted murder have waived extradition to Louisiana.
Zenen Vasquez, 24, of Spruce Street in Morgan City, Jesus Munoz Perez, 31, of Spruce Street in Morgan City, and Ossiel Munoz Perez, 28, of Fielder’s Court in Houma, each were charged on warrants for armed robbery and attempted first degree murder.
They are expected to return from Vidor, Texas, shortly, according to Morgan City police Capt. James Blair.
They will be transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they will be booked and additionally charged with a warrant for aggravated burglary, Blair said in a news release.
The 33-year-old Hispanic victim was stabbed, beaten with a tire wrench and robbed in his Morgan City home early Sunday morning by five people, Blair said.
He was last listed in stable condition following surgery in a New Orleans hospital.
Police were summoned through 911 Sunday at 4:50 a.m. to the 800 block of Levee Road in Morgan City.
Blair said evidence indicates the four men and one woman went to the residence in an attempt to contact the victim. When they were unable to, they gained entry to the home and attacked him.
An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the residence, Blair said.
Also charged in the attack were Geronimo Ramirez Martinez, 28, of Shaw Drive in Morgan City, and Mariah Ann Grimes, 21, of Spruce Street in Morgan City, were arrested on warrants for armed robbery, aggravated burglary and attempted first degree murder.
They were arrested in Morgan City.
Bail has been set at $150,000 for Martinez and Grimes on the armed robbery and attempted murder charges. Bail has not yet been set for the aggravated burglary charge, Blair said.
Martinez is being housed at the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center, while Grimes is in the Morgan City Jail.
