Woman arrested on armed robbery warrant

A 22-year-old Morgan City woman was arrested on a warrant for alleged involvement in an armed robbery, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Latifha Friels, 22, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:17 p.m. Monday on a warrant for armed robbery.
Friels was transported from the Patterson Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant she held for the Morgan City Police Department.
The Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division filed a warrant on Friels for her alleged involvement in the armed robbery that occurred Oct. 20, 2015, near the 700 block of Federal Ave.
Friels was booked and jailed. Bond was set at $150,000. The investigation continues with more arrests pending.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Joseph C. Young, 46, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:18 a.m. Monday on the charges of simple burglary, resisting an officer by giving false information, possession of drug paraphernalia (third offense) and a warrant with Patterson Police Department for unauthorized use of a movable (two counts).
Officers were dispatched to a residence on 11th Street in regard to someone being inside of an abandon house.
When officers arrived, they observed a door that appeared to have been pried open.
A short time later, an individual identified as Young, came to the front door. The owner of the property was contacted and stated that no one should be on the property.
When officers first came into contact with Young, he gave officers a false name, but later gave his true identity. Officers also located in Young’s possession an item used to smoke illegal narcotics.
Young also held active warrants for the Patterson Police Department. Young was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
—Harold A. Sheets, 32, of Third Street in Berwick, was arrested at 12:58 p.m. Monday on the charges of failure to appear disturbing the peace and contempt of court (three counts).
Sheets was located in the area of Railroad Avenue and Myrtle Street.
A local warrants check was done on Sheets and it was determined that he held active warrants for the 6th Ward City Court.
Sheets was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
—Micah K. Soileau, 18, of Joey Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:01 p.m. Monday on the charge of disturbing the peace.
—Brook N. Fuselier, 28, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:01 p.m. Monday on the charge of possession of Schedule IV Zolpidem.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Egle Street in regard to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they observed Fuselier and Soileau having a verbal altercation.
Both Fuselier and Soileau were asked to calm down, but Soileau continued to yell and use profanities. Soileau was placed under arrest. A warrants check was done on Fuselier.
It was determined that she held an active warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. Fuselier was placed under arrest.
They both were transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
—George W. Griffin, 63, of Rose Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:04 p.m. Monday on the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and license plate light required. A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 near Aycock Street observed a vehicle with improper lighting.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Griffin, was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. As the officer approached Griffin, he could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath.
Griffin was asked to perform the standard field sobriety test, in which he performed poorly. Griffin was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
Once at the police department, Griffin was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication. Griffin refused and was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Griffin was booked and jailed.
—Darren T. Hemphill, 47, of Front Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:35 p.m. Monday on the charge of appearing in public intoxicated. A patrol officer in the area of Victor II Boulevard and La. 70 observed an individual who appeared to be intoxicated almost being struck by passing vehicles.
The officer came into contact with the individual, identified as Hemphill. He had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath.
Hemphill was also unable to maintain his balance. Hemphill was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
—Shane P. Scully, 27, of Tupelo Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:39 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law, transactions involving proceeds from controlled dangerous substance activity, obstruction of justice, and a warrant for simple battery (two counts).
The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at a residence on Tupelo Street. Once inside, officers located Scully, another individual, and two juveniles inside the residence. During the course of the investigation, officers located suspected marijuana, items used to smoke illegal narcotics and U.S. currency totaling $581.
According to reports, Scully admitted that the items found in the residence belonged to him. Scully also held an active warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. Scully was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed. No bond has been set yet.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 37 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Leanna Gresco, 24, of the 3100 block of La. 70 in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:09 a.m. today on the charges of aggravated assault and driving under suspension. Deputies responded to a disturbance on Pluto Street in Bayou Vista after receiving reports that a driver attempted to strike a man with a vehicle, Hebert said.
Deputies located the driver, Gresco, and learned that she had gotten into a verbal altercation with a man and attempted to hit him with the vehicle she was driving, Hebert said. Deputies also discovered that Gresco was operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Gresco was jailed with no bail set.
—Son Thai Nguyen, 40, of the 600 block of Cypress Street in Amelia, was arrested at 1:56 p.m. Monday on two warrants, both for failure to appear on charges of driving under suspension. A deputy assigned to patrol the Amelia area located Nguyen at his residence and learned of the warrants for his arrest. Nguyen was jailed with no bail set.
—Aaron Dinger, 23, of the 100 block of Pacific Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:07 p.m. Monday on warrants for failure to appear on charges of illegal possession of stolen things over $1,500, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear on charges of possession of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids.
A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area located Dinger on U.S. 90 after learning of his warrants. Dinger was jailed with bail set at $200,000.
—Robert Barrilleaux, 28, of the 100 block of Mars Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:32 p.m. Friday on the charge of possession of marijuana.
Detectives with the St Mary Parish Narcotics Division responded to a call concerning illegal drug activity at a residence on Field Road in Bayou Vista. During the investigation, detectives made contact with Barrilleaux and found marijuana in his possession. Barrilleaux was transported to the parish jail. He was later released on a summons to appear in court Feb. 11.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Johnny Giroir Jr., 22, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 11:37 a.m. Monday on a warrant in the City Court of Thibodaux for unlawful possession of alcohol. Giroir was released to the City of Thibodaux.
—Erik Looney, 37, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:13 a.m. Monday on the charges of speeding 64 mph in a 45 mph zone, driving under suspension, open container and resisting an officer. Looney has a preset bail of $2,750.
—Kaci Henry, 28, of Hilda Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:23 a.m. Sunday on the charge of tail lamps required, no proof of insurance and driving under suspension. Henry was released on $150 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Christopher Cartwright, 33, of the 16200 block of Canaridge Drive in Houston, was arrested at 1:27 a.m. Monday on the charges of driving while intoxicated first offense, speeding 70 mph in a 55 mph zone and open container. Cartwright was jailed with no bail set yet.
