’Jills finish 2-1 at CCHS tourney

The Patterson Lumberjills finished 2-1 at Central Catholic’s Lady Eagle Christmas Classic this weekend with wins against Central Catholic and Terrebonne while falling to Ellender.
On Friday, Patterson fell to Ellender 83-27.
Ellender jumped out to a huge lead at the end of the first quarter after outscoring Patterson 32-4 in the period.
Patterson had the upper hand in the second quarter with an 11-9 scoring advantage but trailed 41-15 at the half.
Ellender extended its lead to 67-22 after three quarters.
Nyla Holder led Patterson with nine points, while Erykah Singleton added eight. Other scorers for the Lumberjills included Jazmin Evans with three points; Alex Benjamin, Nia Broussard and Kemprielle Williams, two points apiece; and Nakia Brooks, one point.
Against Terrebonne, Patterson won 48-37.
The Lumberjills outscored Terrebonne in every quarter, taking a 10-9 lead after the first quarter, a 17-14 lead at halftime and a 29-23 lead after three quarters.
Singleton led Patterson with 17 points, while Brooks also reached double figures with 14 points.
Other scorers included Makayla Ruiz with eight; Benjamin, six; and Evans, three.
Also Saturday, Patterson defeated Central Catholic 35-20.
Patterson took a 10-2 lead after the first period and extended it to 20-7 at the half and 29-13 after three quarters.
Central Catholic edged Patterson 7-6 in the scoring column in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Benjamin and Brooks each scored eight points to lead Patterson. Other scorers for Patterson included Williams, six; Ruiz, four; Singleton and Evans, three points each; Broussard, two; and Holder, one.
Hallie Autin and Mary-Beth Blanchard led Central Catholic with eight points apiece. Autin added seven rebounds and two steals.
Other top contributors for Central Catholic include Rebecca David, two points, one block, one steal and six rebounds; and Taylor Picou, two points, two steals and seven rebounds.
A day earlier on Friday, the Lady Eagles snapped a six-game losing streak with a 35-31 win against West St. Mary.
Central Catholic took a 9-5 lead after the first quarter and led 16-11 at the half.
The Lady Eagles extended its lead to 33-18 after three quarters before West St. Mary closed the gap in the fourth quarter following a 13-2 scoring advantage.
Autin and Blanchard both reached double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Autin added three steals, three assists and five rebounds, while Blanchard also had two steals, one assist and one rebound.
Other top contributors included Picou, eight points, five rebounds, four assists and six steals; David, two points, one block, one steal and eight rebounds; and Elise Hidalgo, one block and two rebounds.
In other action at Central Catholic’s tournament, Terrebonne defeated West St. Mary 48-25 on Friday, while on Saturday, Ellender defeated West St. Mary 77-34.
Central Catholic (3-9) will return to action Saturday when it opens District 7-1A play against Gueydan in Morgan City. A time for the game has not been announced.
Patterson (8-7) will hit the court again Tuesday when it travels to face St. James in a 6 p.m. contest.
’Jacks finish 1-2 at
St. Martinville tourney
The Patterson Lumberjacks finished 1-2 at St. Martinville’s tournament.
The Lumberjacks dropped a 79-76 contest to Westgate Friday, while Saturday the Lumberjacks rebounded with a 58-41 win against Breaux Bridge.
On Sunday, the Lumberjacks fell to Cecilia 61-54.
No individual stats from the games were available today.
Patterson (5-3) will return to action Friday when it travels to face Assumption.
Eagles fall at
E.D. White tournament
Central Catholic fell to Lutcher 66-55 at E.D. White’s tournament Saturday.
No individual stats were available from the contest today.
The Eagles (2-7) will return to action today when they play Centerville in the tournament in a 5 p.m. contest.
