Berwick High falls to Vandebilt Catholic

Berwick fell to Vandebilt Catholic, 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-11) in District 8-III prep volleyball action in Berwick Wednesday.
Vandebilt Catholic came into the game ranked No. 3 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III power rankings, while Berwick is ranked No. 21.
Sydney Aucoin led Berwick with 13 kills and four digs. Other top contributors included Alyssa Gray, five kills, 14 assists and nine digs; Mary Jordan Melancon, one kill, seven assists and seven digs; Brittney Roberie, 14 digs; Roslyn Gros, one ace and eight digs; and Lauren Skinner, three kills, one dig and one solo block.
Berwick (7-11 overall, 0-2 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Franklin in district play.
Central Catholic
defeats Terrebonne
Central Catholic defeated Terrebonne Wednesday, 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-16, 25-22), in Morgan City.
As a team, Central Catholic hit 0.425 with 49 kills, 80 digs and 17 solo blocks.
Quincee Wiggins led Central Catholic with 18 kills and 17 digs. Other top contributors included Hallie Autin, 15 kills, 14 digs and three solo blocks; Katie Hoffpauir, 24 assists and 14 digs; Taylor Picou, two kills, 14 assists and six digs; Emma Aucoin, one assist, three aces and 16 digs; Yani Johnson, eight kills, two digs and seven solo blocks; Brooke Lipari, two aces and seven digs; and Caroline Green, five solo blocks.
Central Catholic (20-7) will return to action Monday when it travels to face Assumption. Assumption is ranked No. 1 in Division II.
Patterson wins
district opener
The Patterson Lumberjills won their District 2-IV opener against West St. Mary Tuesday, 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 24-26, 25-19), in Baldwin.
Patterson had 21 aces and 45 kills.
Makayla Ruiz led Patterson with three aces, 17 kills and six digs. Other top contributors included Josie Merida, one kill, two digs and 19 assists; Erykah Singleton, five aces, 13 kills and one assist; Gabrielle Marcel, one ace, eight kills and three digs; Katelyn Larson, one dig and 11 assists; Morgan Jones, three aces, three kills and one assist; Brianna Gray, four aces; and Madison Paul, three aces.
In junior varsity action, Patterson won 2-0 (25-5, 25-10).
Patterson had 21 aces.
Ashlynn Rock led the squad with two aces, four kills and one dig. Other top contributors included Paul and Briyanna Butler, seven aces apiece; Kathryn Craddock, three aces and one assist; Gray, one kill and one assist; and Larson, one assist.
Patterson (3-7, 1-0) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Notre Dame in district action. Notre Dame is ranked No. 7 in Division IV in the latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association Power Rankings.
