Berwick High sweeps Franklin in volleyball action

Berwick eased past Franklin in District 8-III action at Berwick Thursday, winning 3-0 (25-5, 25-9, 25-4).
Berwick totaled 26 aces.
Mary Jordan Melancon led Berwick with five kills, 15 assists, five aces and four digs. Other top contributors included Sydney Aucoin, nine kills and one dig; Emma Hover, one kill, one assist, four aces and seven digs; Jordan Lipari, two kills, eight assists and one dig; Roslyn Gros, eight aces and two digs; Brittney Roberie, one ace and eight digs; Lauren Skinner, two kills, one assist and five digs; and Ryleigh Arnold, three kills, one assist, two digs and one solo block.
Berwick (13-16 overall, 2-5 in district) will return to action Monday when it travels to face E.D. White in district action.
Vandebilt Catholic
sweeps MCHS
Morgan City fell to Vandebilt Catholic 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-9) in Morgan City Thursday.
Morgan City had eight block assists.
Sh’diamond Holly, Abby Reynaud and McKenzi Smith led the Lady Tigers. Holly had 10 kills, three solo blocks and three block assists, while Abby Reynaud contributed 17 assists and one ace. Smith had two kills, one ace, nine digs and four block assists. Other top contributors included Twanna LeBeau, three kills and seven digs; Katelyn Gautreaux, 10 digs; and Brandi Albarado, one ace and six digs.
In junior varsity action, Vandebilt defeated Morgan City 2-0 (25-20, 25-20).
Hallie Blanchard and Smith led Morgan City. Blanchard had five kills, one ace and four digs, while Smith contributed two kills, six assists, one ace and one dig. Other top contributors included Daysha Tivet, two aces and seven digs; Karmen Peterson, three kills, one dig and one solo block; and Nia Lightfoot, three kills, one solo block and one block assist.
In freshman action, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-23, 25-7).
Randasha Grogan led Morgan City with three kills and six digs. Other top contributors included Deryon Johnson, three kills, one ace and two digs; Sarajane Nini, one kill and five assists; and Jamia Francois, one ace and two digs.
Morgan City (10-18, 3-3) will return to action this weekend when it heads west to face Sam Houston today and St. Louis Saturday.
Patterson falls

The Patterson Lumberjills fell to Catholic High-New Iberia at home 3-2 (25-22, 18-25, 25-27, 29-27, 6-15) Thursday in District 2-IV action.
No individual stats were available.
Patterson (6-16, 3-4) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face David Thibodaux in district play.
