Berwick run-rules Franklin 2-0
Berwick High School run-ruled Franklin 21-0 in five innings in Berwick Tuesday in both teams’ District 9-3A opener.
The Panthers took a 13-0 lead after the first inning and extended it to 21-0 after two innings.
Berwick outhit Franklin 13-1.
Neal Theriot earned the win and tossed a one-hitter. In five innings, he fanned four.
Offensively, the Panthers had two triple and two doubles among their hits.
Theriot finished 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, while Tanner Caldwell was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Other top offensive contributors included Justin Morvant, 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs.
Other top offensive contributors for Berwick included Daniel Gray, 2-for-3, a double and three RBIs; Lucas Hatch, 1-for-1, an RBI; and D.J. Robicheaux, 1-for-3, an RBI.
Berwick (12-7 overall, 1-0 in district) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face Franklin in district action.
Patterson run-rules Maurepas
Patterson plated a combined 12 runs in the final two innings to defeat Maurepas, 14-4, in six innings at Patterson Tuesday.
While the Lumberjacks trailed 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Lumberjacks came back with five runs in the frame for a 7-4 lead.
Patterson added seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.
While Maurepas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Patterson countered with a two-run frame in the bottom half of the inning.
Maurepas tied the game in the top of the fourth and took a 4-2 lead in the top of the fifth.
Brennen Gouaux earned the win for Patterson as he tossed a four-hitter. In six innings, he surrendered four unearned runs on four hits with one walk and fanned seven.
Offensively, Bryce Beaubouef led Patterson with a 2-for-3 performance with a triple, two RBIs and two runs.
Other top offensive contributors included Tyrik Singleton, 2-for-4, two RBIs and two runs; Lukas Carnley, 2-for-4, an RBI and a stolen base; Jamey Fabre, 2-for-5, an RBI and two runs; Joel Singleton, 1-for-3, two RBIs and two runs; Kenny Singleton, 1-for-4, an RBI and three runs; Brad Beaubouef, 1-for-4, a double; and Jake Lagrange, an RBI and a run.
Patterson left nine runners on base in the win while each team committed five errors.
On Monday, Patterson earned a 15-2 win against Highland Baptist in their final game of Ascension Episcopal’s tournament.
Patterson jumped out early with six runs in the first and single runs in the second, third and fourth innings for a 9-0 advantage.
The Lumberjacks added six runs in the top of the seventh, while Highland Baptist scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Offensively, Patterson had 17 hits, including seven doubles and two triples.
Gouaux led Patterson with a 3-for-4 performance with two doubles, a triple, two RBIs and three runs.
Other top hitters included Bryce Beaubouef, 3-for-4, a double, a triple, four RBIs and a run; Joel Singleton, 3-for-5, two doubles, an RBI and two runs; Carnley, 3-for-5, a double, two RBIs and a run; Brad Beaubouef, 2-for-4, two RBIs and two runs; Tyrik Singleton, 1-for-4, a double, two RBIs and two runs; Lagrange, 1-for-4, an RBI and two runs; and Jamey Fabre, 1-for-4, an RBI and a run.
Patterson left 10 runners on base in the win and Highland Baptist committed six errors.
Patterson (8-7) will return to action today as its game with Cecilia has been moved up a day due to the threat of rain Thursday. The game will be played at 4 p.m.
Morgan City defeats Ellender
Morgan City High School opened District 7-4A play with a 7-4 win against Ellender Tuesday.
While Ellender took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second, Morgan City came back with two runs in the top of the third and added a run in the fifth.
Ellender tied the game at 3 in the bottom of the fifth.
Morgan City took the lead for good with three runs in the top of the sixth.
While Ellender cut its deficit to 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth, Morgan City plated a run in the top of the seventh.
Morrquis Charles earned the win for Morgan City. In 5.1 innings, he surrendered four runs on three hits with three walks and fanned five.
Colby Glatter earned the save. In 1.2 innings, he surrendered a hit and fanned one.
“Tank (Morrquis) pitched very well, and Colby was great in relief,” Morgan City coach Tim Vidos said. “Our pitching gives us a chance to win each time we take the field.”
Offensively, Brady Fryou led Morgan City’s nine-hit attack with a 3-for-4 performance.
“We need to become better hitters, and we are making progress there,” Vidos said. “We were just off yesterday.”
Morgan City (5-9 overall, 1-0 in district) will return to action Thursday when it hosts South Terrebonne in a 6 p.m. contest.
CCHS run-rules
Highland Baptist
Behind a 13-run third inning, Central Catholic run-ruled Highland Baptist 14-0 in five innings Monday in Central Catholic’s District 7-1A opener.
Leading 1-0 after notching a run in the first inning, the Eagles plated 13 in the third innings.
Charlie Solar earned the win. In five innings of work, he tossed a two-hitter with five walks and three strikeouts.
Offensively, Central Catholic had just seven hits in the lopsided win but stole six bases.
Highland Baptist walked seven batters and hit four Eagle batters.
Stefano Guarisco led Central Catholic with a 2-for-3 performance with a triple, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs.
Other top contributors included Gregory Leger Jr., 1-for-2, a double, two RBIs and a run; Matthew Barbier, 1-for-2, three RBIs, a stolen base and two runs; Samuel Guarisco, 1-for-2, an RBI, two stolen bases and two runs; Mitchell Lemoine, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run; Charlie Barron, 1-for-2, an RBI, a stolen base and a two runs; Blake Hidalgo, two RBIs; and T.J.
