CCHS tennis team faces Vandebilt
Central Catholic faced Vandebilt Catholic in tennis Tuesday.
In girls singles action, Central Catholic’s Emma Thomas defeated Vandebilt Catholic’s Stephanie Alevizon 6-3, 7-5, while Vandebilt Catholic’s Mallory Bruno defeated Central Catholic’s Sarah Price 8-1.
In doubles action, Vandebilt Catholic’s Taylor Boudreaux and Rachel Haydel defeated Central Catholic’s Ashley Daigle and Lindsee Case 8-1, and Vandebilt’s Ashley Clement and Julie McMahon won 8-2 against Elise Hidalgo and Kerrylyn Luc.
In boys singles action, Gage Theriot defeated Vandebilt Catholic’s John McCain 2-6, 6-4, 10-6.
In doubles action, Reese Dantin and Jacob Fournier defeated Central Catholic’s Connor Hebert and Sal Grizzaffi 8-1, while Alex Boudreaux and Miguel Espiritu defeated Central Catholic’s Gavin Wisdom and Luke Brinkley 8-2.
On April 1, Central Catholic faced Morgan City.
In girls singles action, Morgan City Morgan City’s Harleigh Price defeated Emma Thomas 6-1 and 7-6, while Jamie Scioneaux of Morgan City defeated Sarah Price of Central Catholic 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, Morgan City’s Krystina Pitre and Bailee Hoggatt topped Ashley Daigle and Brooke Picou 6-4, 6-0, while Central Catholic’s Lynze Bell and Lindsee Case were victorious against Caylee Deshotel and Emily Lacoste 6-1, 6-0.
In other doubles action, Morgan City’s Faith Crappel and Emily Boudreaux defeated Central Catholic’s Elise Hidalgo and Kerrylyn Luc 8-2.
In boys singles action, Central Catholic’s Gage Theriot defeated Andre Steckler 8-2, while Theriot also defeated Johnny Ha 8-1. Central Catholic’s Gavin Wisdom defeated Jaden Breaux 8-0.
In doubles’ action, Central Catholic’s Connor Hebert and Sal Grizzaffi defeated Omar Ledezma and Luke Matherne 6-1, 7-5, while Central Catholic’s Luke Brinkley and Gavin Wisdom were victorious against Zach Ingram and Mason Rutledge, 8-4.
Earlier this month, Morgan City faced Vandebilt Catholic.
In boys singles action, Morgan City’s Andre Steckler won 8-4 and Johnny Ha won 8-6, while Mason Rutledge fell 8-6.
In boys doubles action, Steckler and Ha won 8-3, while Rutledge and Matherne were victorious 8-4.
Omar Ledezma and Luke Matherne fell in a tiebreaker, 10-4 in other doubles action.
In girls singles action, Harleigh Price won 6-0 and 6-1, while Jamie Scioneaux won 6-2, 6-2.
Morgan City dropped it doubles’ contests as the Lady Tigers’ Bailee Hoggatt and Krystina Pitre fell 6-2, 6-3, while Emily LaCoste and Caylee Deshotel fell 6-4, 6-1.
In other doubles action, Emily Boudreaux and Zuilin Mezano fell 10-7 in a tiebreaker, while Alexia Morgan and Shayna Furneaux fell 8-6.
On March 25, Central Catholic faced Berwick.
In boys’ singles action, Central Catholic’s Gage Theriot defeated Riley Credeur 8-3, while Theriot defeated Berwick’s Nate Furlette 8-1.
In doubles’ action, Berwick’s Jeremy Boudreaux and Parker Felterman defeated Central Catholic’s Sal Grizzaffi and Connor Hebert 8-4, while Hebert and Grizzaffi defeated Berwick’s Andre Adams and Levi Porter 8-4.
Central Catholic’s Gavin Wisdom and Luke Brinkley defeated Berwick’s William Hymel and Stephen Theriot 8-4.
In girls’ doubles action, Berwick’s Claire Parsiola and Mary Sanford defeated Central Catholic’s Emma Thomas and Ashley Daigle 8-3, while Berwick’s Emma Gray and Allis Armato were victorious against Central Catholic’s Lynze Belle and Lindsee Case, 8-0.
Berwick’s Abigail Askew and Maggie Martin defeated Central Catholic’s Elise Hidalgo and Kerrylyn Luc 8-0.
In singles action, Berwick’s Olivia Orlando defeated Central Catholic’s Sarah Price, 8-0, while Central Catholic’s Lindsee Case defeated Berwick’s Jean Marie Hidalgo 8-0.
On March 24, the Morgan City tennis team played at home against Catholic High-New Iberia, and came up short in its matches.
In the boys’ singles play, Morgan City’s Andre Steckler fell 8-2, while Johnny Ha lost 8-2.
In boys’ doubles action, Omar Ledezma and Luke Matherne fell, while Andre Steckler and Mason Rutledge and Johnny Ha and Zach Ingram both fell 8-0.
In girls singles action, Harleigh Price fell 6-2, 6-1, while Krystina Pitre fell 6-0, 6-0.
