Hanson Tigers roll past Gueydan Bears
GUEYDAN _ Spencer Bishop fired a no-hitter, leading the Hanson Memorial Tigers to a 10-1 victory over the Gueydan Bears here Friday in District 7-1A action.
Bishop earned the mound victory, going the distance, allowing one run (none earned) on no hits with 12 strikeouts and four walks.
Bishop faced 25 batters while throwing 91 pitches with 58 strikes and 33 balls with 12 strikeouts.
Bishop turned in an exceptional effort on the hill and at the plate. While throwing the no-hitter where he fanned 12 of the 25 batters he faced, Bishop also went 3 for 3 at the plate, collecting a pair of RBIs.

John Higdon scored the Tigers’ first run in the bottom half of the second inning, giving Hanson a 1-0 lead. In the fourth frame, Spencer Bishop scored, giving Hanson a 2-0 advantage. Hanson’s Bo Barrilleaux, Chase Mensman, Brennan Young and John Higdon all crossed home plate, handing Hanson Memorial a 6-0 advantage. Evan Thibodeaux, Payton Trahan, John Guienze and Chase Mensman all tagged home plate in the bottom half of the sixth inning, giving Hanson the 10-1 district victory.
THE HANSON MEMORIAL Tigers will open the State Class 1-A playoffs on Wednesday versus East Beauregard at the Amar Lancon Field at 5 p.m.
