Ina-led Hornets top Erath
Kevin Ina poured in a game-high 29 points to lead the Franklin Hornets to a 77-54 District 8-3A over the Erath Bobcats here Tuesday at the FSHS Gymnasium.
Franklin assumed control early, taking a 17-10 lead at in the opening stanza. Franklin outscored Erath 25-11 in the second quarter for a one-sided 42-21 cushion at intermission. Franklin outpointed Erath 37-33 in the second half to salt away the huge 77-54 district triumph.
Ina led the way for the Hornets with 29 points while Joshua Parker pumped in 20 points and Justin Poledore finished with 13 points. Jarius Boyd added eight points while John Boyd contributed five points and Tra’antray James had two points. Dwonyell Charles did not play due to an ankle sprain.

Bulldogs edge Tigers in OT
The Centerville Bulldogs outscored the Hanson Memorial Tigers 9-3 in overtime en route to a 53-47 District 7-1A victory here Tuesday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gym.
Centerville improved to 6-5 overall and 3-0 in District 7-1A. Hanson drops to 1-2 in 7-1A.
Centerville will host Ascension Episcopal on Friday night with three games starting at 5:30.
Centerville broke open a close game with a 9-3 run in overtime.
With less than a minute to play, Hanson’s Bo Barrilleaux pilfered the ball and made a layup, giving HMS a 42-38 advantage.
A short time later, Barrilleaux connected on a pair of free throws to extend HMS’ lead to 44-41 with 9.1 ticks showing on the clock.
Centerville’s leading scorer Lance Howard drained the game-tying trey with 4.7 seconds showing on the clock, forcing the extra session with the game knotted at 44-44.
Centerville outpointed Hanson 9-3 in the overtime period, earning the 53-47 league victory.
Hanson took a 13-10 lead at the end of the first quarter before Centerville rallied for an 11-8 second quarter run to knot the game at 21-all at intermission. Hanson pulled ahead by a narrow 34-32 margin at the end of the third quarter thanks to a 12-10 run. Centerville answered with a 12-10 fourth quarter flurry to force the game into overtime tied at 44-44. Down the stretch, Centerville went on a 9-3 run to earn the 53-47 win.
Centerville’s Howard led all scorers with 19 points on a trio of treys, six deuces and a perfect 4 of 4 freebies.
Cole Candella also finished in double digits with 11 points, making good on 5 2’s along with 1 of 3 free throws.
Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Marvin Strawder, 8 points, 2-2’s, 1-3, 1-1 free throws; Karl Young, 4; Desmond Monette, 4; Jaylon Williams, 3 and Marquis Strawder, 2.
Barrilleaux led the Tigers with 18 points while Brennan Young tallied 8 points with Brian Sonnier adding 7 points. Rounding out the scoring for the Tigers were: Kyler Clements, 6; Josh Sanchez, 4 and Britt Young, 4.

Hanson Lady Tigers win over Lady Bulldogs
Casey Fitzgerald and Carli Pellerin scored 21 and 14 points respectively, leading the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers to a 51-16 District 7-1A victory over the Centerville Lady Bulldogs Tuesday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
Hanson dominated from the opening tap, building a 12-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Tigers went on an 18-5 second quarter run for a 30-7 cushion at the half.
Alyrria Austin tossed in six points while Kennon Stelly tallied five points to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
Casey Fitzgerald drained 21 points while Carli Pellerin bagged 14 points to lead the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers.
