Kaplan edges Morgan City

Kaplan used a big fourth quarter to rally past Morgan City, 35-32.
Trailing 28-22 entering the fourth, Kaplan outscored Morgan City 13-4 in the final period to secure the win.
Morgan City led 11-10 after the first quarter and extended its lead to 22-14 at the half.
Kaplan outscored Morgan City 8-6 in the third quarter to cut its deficit to 28-22 after three periods.
Laqwaijha Bourgeois led Morgan City with 12 points.
Other top contributors included Meya Morse, seven; Casey Chenevert, six; Steveyion Walker, four; and Alisha Singleton, three.
Morgan City (6-6) will hit the court again Friday when it begins District 7-4A play by hosting Vandebilt Catholic. Varsity action is set to begin at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Berwick falls to West St. Mary
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell to West St. Mary, 50-36, in nondistrict action in Berwick Tuesday.
West St. Mary outscored Berwick 15-9 in the first quarter and the visitors from Baldwin took a 32-24 advantage into halftime.
Berwick outscored West St. Mary 9-8 in the third quarter but trailed 40-33 after three quarters.
Asia Jackson led Berwick with 13 points, while Iesha Jones had eight.
Other scorers for Berwick included Jenna Beiza, four points; Kabni James, Mickenzie Reed and Nicole Johnson, all three points; and Brittany Boudreaux, two points.
Berwick (0-8) had six three pointers in the game, four of those by Jackson.
The Lady Panthers will return to action Friday when they travel to face North Vermilion. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
Central Catholic routs Highland Baptist
The Central Catholic rolled past Highland Baptist, 60-22, in District 7-1A girls’ basketball action Tuesday in Morgan City.
Central Catholic outscored Highland Baptist in every quarter, taking an 18-6 advantage after the first period, a 26-10 lead at halftime and a 44-14 advantage after three quarters.
Central Catholic’s Hallie Autin led the Lady Eagles with 32 points, five steals, four assists and four rebounds.
Mary-Beth Blanchard also reached double figures for Central Catholic with 10 points as well as two steals and one assist.
Other top contributors for Central Catholic included Hanna McCue, five points, two steals, four assists and four rebounds; Sydney Williams, four points, one block, one steal and eight rebounds; Sanaa Mitchell, four points, one steal and three rebounds; Lexi Landry, four points and one rebound; Rachel Rogers, one point, one steal, one assist and two rebounds; and Rebecca David, five rebounds and two steals.
Central Catholic (4-10 overall, 1-1 in district) will continue District 7-1A action Friday when it travels to face Vermilion Catholic.
Patterson edges Erath
The Patterson Lumberjills edged Erath, 36-35, in nondistrict action in Patterson Tuesday.
Jazmin Evans led Patterson with 12 points, while Nakia Brooks scored 11.
Other contributors for Patterson included Erykah Singleton and Alex Benjamin with four points each; Nyla Holder and Gaylen Grogan with two points apiece; and Makayla Ruiz with one.
Patterson (10-7) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Houma Christian in a 6:30 p.m. contest.
