MCHS duo advances to quarters at state tourney

Morgan City High School had a doubles team advance to the quarterfinals at the Division II state tennis tournament.
Savannah Loupe and Harleigh Price advanced to the round of eight after defeating opponents in their first two contests.
In the first round, they defeated a team from West Ouachita, 3-6, 7-6, 6-1, while in the second round, they topped a team from Vandebilt Catholic, 6-4, 6-4.
In the quarterfinals, the duo fell to a team from Lutcher, 6-2, 6-3.
The quarterfinal appearance at state was the first one for either Loupe or Price, Morgan City tennis coach Emma Pitre said.
In singles’ action, Morgan City’s Krystina Pitre fell to a competitor from Ruston, 7-6, 7-4.
